Our room was ample size, clean and quiet. The bed was quite comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was adequate, it was well stocked and the coffee was hot.

I went to get some ice for a cold drink. When I looked in the ice bucket there was about 3/4 of an inch of mold with liquid in the bottom. We took this to the front desk and asked for a new room. If the ice bucket looked like this what did the rest of the room look like. We were given another room. At about 11:45 someone was trying to get into our room. Thank God my husband locked the dead bolt. He called the front desk, and reported this to the person on duty. She asked us to send the people back down stairs. The person on duty that gave us a new room did not change it in the computer. This is the worst experience we have ever had at a Best Wester.

Room was adequate - nothing special.

But the expanded continental breakfast was a farce. When we arrived to eat they had almost nothing left, although breakfast was supposed to go for another hour. They had two waffle makers and a toaster. A couple of stale doughnuts that are probably still there. We have stayed at several Best Westerns that offer expanded continental breakfasts and they were all more than adequate. This one, ugh.

We stayed five days at this motel in a junior suite. We had an extra little room with a couch, chair, coffee table and large TV. The main room had two beds, desk, microwave, refrigerator and another large TV. The sink was outside the bathroom. Both rooms had their own air conditioning. The rooms were clean and the air was even already turned on. We arrived in a cool room instead of a hot room which has happened at other motels. The one drawback was no rod near the sink to hang our towels. The check-in and out was quick and easy, and I was given a new keycard quickly when I lost the first one. The breakfast was great with all kinds of cereal, muffins, breakfast pastry, hard-boiled eggs, juice, fruit, and WAFFLES.

I moved in here after a not so great stay in another LaGrande hotel. First off, it should be noted that this motel is NOT downtown. It's next to the interstate and you can't easily walk to the downtown attractions. It is a nice enough hotel though. The furnishings are nice (bearing in mind that it's in Lagrande), and the wireless internet worked quite well (unlike the other hotel, which is owned by the same company). I do hope that someone someday invents a quiet hotel fan/air conditioner, this unit was as loud as any I've ever been around in spite of being fairly new. The pool and spa are nice enough, and the breakfast was decent. Some of the front desk staff were really nice, and some were kind of surly. I didn't have any of the negative experiences that other users seemed to, and would choose to stay here again if I ever had to hotel up again in LaGrande.

We stayed 2 nights mid-week. When we arrived, found the room (a suite) to have a very smelly toilet! (Rank, old urine scent wafting up to nose level while standing, mind you! ) When we went to the front desk, they were busy with a bus-load that had just arrived, so waited in the room where they have breakfast. There was a spray bottle of disinfectant sitting there on the counter, so I took it to spray every surface of the bathroom! That problem solved...but where is the remote? Found it! on the floor...not exactly the 1st place I'd look! Oops...another problem...chips and dirt found on the floor! Told the front desk staff about this at a non-busy time...was told that a maid would definitely take care of it!
Came back later...same chips on the floor! Obviously, not taken care of. Mentioned this again to the staff...were told they were sorry about the problem and made a note.
Pillows were fairly "bouncy", but bed seemed fine. Linens seemed clean, but I was a bit nervous after the horrid bathroom odors.
Layout of suite, very odd. You walk into the door to a small area with a full size couch, coffee table, overstuffed chair, lamp -table on one side: a large TV on a dresser, refrigerator, microwave in a cabinet on the other side, with a corridor for walking through. Next was the bath area, with single sink open to walkway, separate bathroom with shower tub combo opposite. Then was the usual double queen layout with another TV in a closing cabinet opposite, a large desk with rolling desk chair. The cable for connection to internet was on the opposite wall, between the beds, so the cable was long enough to string across the bed to the desk area! It did have wireless, but if you didn't have blue-tooth it might be a problem.

Overall, not the place we'll choose next time. If they had been more interested in correcting the problems, instead of berating the maid staff to us, we might feel differently.

The cable TV didn't work. At prime swimming time (about 10am) when I needed a swim to relax my back muscles from the painful mattress, the maintenence guy was using a sander on the stones around the pool. The result was very unclean air (you could see it) and a layer of thick dust all over the water. The pool posed a significant health risk. When I complained politely to the front desk girl she was rude, not apologetic about it. So, the 3 things I was paying for didn't work...the bed, the TV and the pool. At least they have waffle presses to make your own waffle on.
