Overall my stay here was great, the owners are very kind, the rooms are clean. I couldn't have asked for a better stay. And they also take pets!!!

Room Tip: Ask the owner for any specials they have!!

My Fiance And I went to La Grande Oregon for a visit.. decided to stay at Quail Run.. They had relatively good prices, and the front Desk Guy was very helpful with giving directions and very Kind.. He actually gave us a bigger room than what we asked for, and didn't charge us more... Unfortunately, The bathroom had not been cleaned, tooth paste on the mirror and shelf below it, there was hair on the toilet (and you know what kind I am referring to!) The only soap offered was three bars of facial soap, no shampoo or conditioner offered. The towels had rust stains on them. The room had a double and a queen bed. The queen didn't have the sheets tucked, and it was apparent that the bedding had not been changed after the last guests had left. We found hair in between the top sheet and the fitted sheet. The double bed had not been slept in. The pillow cases had sweat stains on them. The carpets had not been vacuumed. We found packets of KFC honey in the bedside table, and used Kleenex's as well. The bible had graffiti in it. There was plastic bags and garbage in the dresser. The lighting in the room was also poor. A florescent bulb in the ceiling gave a very cold feeling to the room. The other two lamps barely lit the room. Nothing in the pictures we saw matched what we found in the room. Overall we were very disappointed with the quality of the room. Train tracks are pretty close to the motel, kept waking us up every half hour or so.

I've stayed at a lot of independent places and they do tend to be hit or miss, but this was a clear miss. You know those run-down motels that have people living in them? Yeah, this is one of them. Not so much dirty, as simply run down. As far from everything as can be and still technically be in town. Prices online twice the walk-up rates. Right by some railroad tracks so expect to be woken up every 5-10 minutes. You'd be better off at pretty much anywhere else in town. To be fair, it was clean and the people were nice enough, but there are plenty of better alternatives at the same or better price.

Room Tip: Oddly enough online rates were close to twice the walk-up rates.

I was pleasantly surprised to find such a decent and clean room for a low rate. This was in the back section. The first room I was shown was small and for even less money, but trust me and take one of the back rooms. The room included a little table by the window, a small 'fridge, microwave oven and a small range. There was even space for guests to visit and a sofa.

The owners were nice and even was not offended to let me look at the room first. They were very friendly and helpful and tried to help look up a particular location that I had for an appointment.

Don't let the outside appearnace fool you. It appeared that they had been prepped for painting of the exterior, but inside they were really pleasant and at a bargain price.

Room Tip: I recommend the back rooms.Much larger and nicer !

This was our second time driving through Oregon and staying at Quail Run Inn. My son said specifically that he wanted to go back to 'the quail place' because he liked it so much last time. The lodging has a cabin-like feel (not with deer heads on the wall but with solid simple furniture, basic heating, and basic shower) but was very cozy and as clean as could be (remember though that clean and new are not the same things). The management is wonderful -- both the husband and wife. The wife held our room even though we were two hours past when the room-hold cut-off was (arriving to town late); and the husband even stopped and chatted with us when we saw him while walking in La Grande that evening. Oh, there is a train that goes by but for us that added to the fun.

Would have been more appropriate in the 1950s. Wifi does not allow connection to SMTP servers, so you can't send email (though you can receive) unless you use web mail.

Biggest problem - next to a [busy] railroad crossing, so the train horns keep you awake all night long - take earplugs! (To be fair, that will affect several hotels in the area.)
