“A Jewel Amid the Gravel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013

My wife and I traveled to Klamath Falls, Oregon, for the 2013 USBC bowling tournament. I decided to give the Holiday Inn a try, as I had good luck with them in Europe, and the other hotels, from my web searches, seemed to be mostly junk. We arrived at about 5pm, and the check-in was effortless. The desk person only gave us one key, so I had to go back for another (maybe she asked me and I was just distracted by something else). The room was very clean and generally well maintained, but there were a couple of little glitches: 1) The bathroom door handle was loose; 2) The towel hook in the bathroom wall, next to the shower, was pulling out of the wall; 3) The A/C was VERY noisy. Since it was nice and cool at night we decided to sleep with the window open (they only allow them to be opened about 4 inches) - we were on the 4th floor, so no worries about security. TV quality was a bit iffy - seems we had a hi-def TV, but no hi-def TV signal. Bed was exceptionally comfortable, but I like them on the soft side...not everyone does. Breakfast was very good, for a hotel without a restaurant - milk, yogurt, cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits/gravy, pancakes. I don't drink coffee, but according to my wife, it wasn't so great. Didn't have a chance to try the pool or the other facilities (pool / fitness). They've got a nice little business center just off the lobby. Ice and vending is in the elevator lobby on each floor. For a short building (only 4 floors), the elevators are kind of slow, but, oh, well. Plenty of places to eat within a 5 minute drive. Next time I'm in Klamath Falls, this is definitely where I'll stay.

Room Tip: Lots of loud trucks in this redneck town. The hotel is 90 degrees to the main road, so get a room as...

Thank you so much for your review of our hotel. I am so happy that you stayed with us during your bowling tournament and I hope you did well. We are lucky to have a fantastic Facilities Manager and maintenance staff. They are always so quick to respond to the maintenance issues that pop up. The safety feature with the windows give our guests with small children peace of mind to know that their children will be safe. Our complimentary breakfast is always a nice way to start off your day. You are correct, we have a lot of great local restaurants in close proximity to our hotel. Our guests always let us know which ones they love the most. We look forward to you staying with us again soon.

Stayed at this property on 2 different nights a few days apart. Our first room was on the 4th floor and was perfect. Our second night was on the 3rd floor and this room was a bit more tired looking, but still nice. We did notice the faint odor of mildew, in the bathroom, but could not find evidence of it, so not sure where the smell was coming from. Overall it was a good experience and we are very likely to return again if traveling in the area.

The good:
Staff was very friendly during both stays. From the front desk to the breakfast room, everyone was helpful and greeted us with smiles.

Property was clean and well kept.

Beds were comfortable.

The bad:
Parking is difficult, if you arrive later in the evening. The lot is shared between several businesses, so keep that in mind.

Thank you for taking time to review our hotel. Our hotel was built in 2008 and is the newest in Klamath Falls. Our 4th floor rooms are our guests favorite and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay there.

We are sorry you noticed an odor in your 3rd floor room. Our Maintenance Department does a great job of keeping up on issues as they come up. They also have an on-going preventative maintenace program to keep our rooms fresh and inviting. We encourage our guests to report anything they notice to our staff, so that we can keep our hotel as pristine as we can.

Our 85 room hotel has 65 dedicated parking spaces. There is a restaurant next door that closes at 9 pm which eases the parking woes. There is also available parking behind the restaurant for our guests.

We look forward to your next stay with us!

After some rather tawdry stays elsewhere we were more than delighted with this hotel. Rooms are tasty, well decorated with great beds and flat screen tv. Bathrooms are downright classy and sparkling clean. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. There's free breakfast, too. It was such a nice experience we stayed an extra day.

Room Tip: Try top floor in back, much quieter than near road.

I stay at a lot of Holiday Inns while traveling on business. This one was better than others I've stayed in. Located near restaurants and shopping, good breakfast buffet, fitness room and pool.
Helpful staff, even though I arrived one hour early my room was made up and ready. Highly recommend if traveling in Klamath Falls.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn in Klamath Falls for the first time this last weekend. We were welcomed to the hotel my a gal who you could tell enjoyed her job. She was pleasant, helpful and a joy to talk to. The rooms were very nice, beds were oh so comfortable. The pool was a welcome sight after being cooped up in the car for some time. Breakfast that is served was the only thing that wasn't quite what I expected. They served a omlet, but found it to be kind of rubbery. Coffee a little strong for my liking, but may be pleasant to someone else. Overall, very good experience. Would welcome another stay there!!

We were on a camping trip at Diamond Lake (near Crater Lake) and our truck broke down. We were towed an hour and a half to Klamath Falls on a Friday only to find out that the garage we were to go to (through AAA) was closed for the weekend. We were happy to see that there was a Holiday Inn just down the street, since we are Priority Club members. We were towed to HIE and by then tired and stressed. We were checked in quickly and happy to see that this was a pretty new HIE. Good location. Since we didn't have a vehicle to drive, could walk to stores and restaurants. Spent two nights here before we could head back home to California. Staff was great and was very sympathetic about our predicament. Actually enjoyed our stay even considering the circumstances. Loved this Holiday Inn Express and would stay here again.

On 5 week camping tour of 10 western states when rain and snow, yes snow, made us decide to just motor. Needed clean, comfortable and friendly place to stay. The HIE in Klamath met all those needs. Also very quiet. A bit out of the way from Rte 97, otherwise highly recommended.
