I stayed at the Best Western Inn Northwind Inn and Suites this past weekend while down in the Portland areas visiting friends. One of my main reasons for picking this hotel was the location; it was only a mile and a half from my friends and a straight shot down Pacific Highway / 99 to their place. What I discovered after getting there was that the location was good for other reasons. It is also only about two miles from the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge, an area where you can walk and view migratory birds and lots of other wildlife. It also has an interesting plant community. For anyone interested in natural history this is a real plus. It is also a very easy spot to get into Portland proper from, either up 99 to Barbur Blvd. or by connecting to I-5. There are plenty of restaurants in the area too.
The room was great; comfortable, clean and quiet. It had a sitting area that had a half wall between the couch / coffee table and the bed to allow for a sense of separate spaces. Though I was alone for this trip, that would have been a really useful thing with two people sharing a room. There was ample desk space, plenty of plugs, a microwave and frig in the room and a coffee pot too. So you could essentially get items to feed yourself and stay in if you wanted to. But, since they also offer a really decent breakfast in a comfortable room downstairs, I took advantage of that. Waffles, cereal; hot or cold, bagels and cream cheese, toast, sweet rolls, coffee, ice water and apple or orange juice were accompanied by a daily hot special. For me it was biscuit and gravy and scrambled eggs, a nice option for a 'Continental Breakfast'. Other than not having a meat choice this is more than 'Continental'. There is also a pool and jacuzzi and it was well used by the kids who were staying with their families. All in all a good stay for a good price in a good location accessible to many things in the Portland area.

Room Tip: There are some rooms that face Pacific Hwy and I don't know what the sound quality there would b...

We had the plaeasure of staying at this hotel last summer when we were in the Portland area visiting family. It was very conveniently located just west of Portland with quick access to the freeways. Nicely situated for shopping but just far enough our to be relatively peaceful. The kids enjoyed the indoor pool and breakfasts. My wife enjoyed the parks close by with lovely jogging trails and nature. Well worth the price.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on the back side of the hotel. These open on to a back lot and not onto the very busy...

Our room was grubby, the bottom inside edges of the lampshades brown with sticky grunge. The open roll of toilet paper was discolored with a brown liquid on its side. Yuk! When I phoned the front desk to get a clean roll I was told I had to come down to the desk to get it !

I would like to get some additional information so I may look into the issues & provide resolution. It seems that you stayed in June of this year & may not have asked for a change of room if you found it dis-satisfactory.

You may write to me directly at Prashant@bwnorthwindinn.com providing me with your name & dates of stay. Hoping to hear from you soon!

A friend and I stayed at this hotel because it was close to the outlet mall (Woodburn) and a few wineries. Greg and Kadie at the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly. Even the housekeeping staff talked to us, smiled and was very nice. We had a two bath/two bedroom suite. The second bath didn't have a hairdryer. When asking for one at the front desk, we assumed it would be handed over to us at the counter. She said maintenance would bring it up. A few short seconds later, the young maintenance guy arrived with a hairdryer that needed mounting to the wall (he thought there was one already there and it had quit working). When he saw there was never one installed, he left to get other items needed for mounting and returned about two minutes later. He installed the hairdryer on the wall in less than a minute and left. He was very friendly, smiling the whole time. The breakfast was great; lots of choices. The hot tub and pool were very clean. The cookies were awesome! Not a lot of restaurant choices nearby, but on Kadie's recommendation we tried Wu's Open Kitchen and it was fantastic. And they delivered right to our hotel door! Also try Fanno Creek brew pub a short distance away in Tigard on Main. I would stay here again; can't beat the super-friendly staff that goes out of their way for you.

Room Tip: If you don't need a two bed/two bath room, select a room off the hwy. (The 2/2 rooms are only av...

We were looking for a Best Western Motel near Washington Square Mall and this was our choice. This is a nice property with convenient parking and a helpful staff. Our room was clean and comfortable. We were meeting family for breakfast, so we just had coffee and juice in the breakfast room. The breakfast looked good and the staff was observed helping and interacting with other customers.

This was our first visit , resulting from a stay at another Best Western Hotel. It meshed well with our stop at a Outlet Mall, when we were on our way back to Canada. The young man at the front desk, Greg Martin was most helpfull, and was able to answer all of our questions and recomende a great restaurant. He was a great representative for a great hotel
