“Chipmunks and squirrels everywhere! :)”

Yes, the views are pretty, the staff all have great senses of humor, and the restaurant on top has terrific food, but that wasn't the best part for me. The restaurant sells bags of squirrel food for $2 a sandwich-sized bag, and the chipmunks and squirrels are very accustomed to hand-feeding. If you like, you can even sit down and put food on your shoulder...they'll crawl right up. They were so very cute, and my daughter and I absolutely loved it. :)

If you are afraid of heights, don't look down it is a long gondola ride to the top of Mt. Howard but it is so work it. The views are majestic, great view of the lake, you can see the states of Washington and Idaho from atop the mountain, even in July there was a waterfall running down the neighboring mountainside.

At the top there is a restaurant and they also sell squirrel food. All sorts of squirrels, chipmunks and even grouse will approach you for the food.

There is also plenty of trails hiking if you wish.

The tram, though a bit pricey, takes you to the top of Mt. Howard. It is a peaceful, slow ride to the top, where there is a small restaurant (you can get a beer!) and buy food for the ground squirrels that will eat out of your hand. Be prepared to be cold though--its high up there! You can also do some hiking.

If you're in the area, this is a don't miss. We'd no knowledge of it ... Simply saw the billboard and tried it out. Definitely worth the time and money. Wear some walking shoes for the paths to the spectacular views (and bring along some bottled water as well).

Lunch at the top was great as well ... Good food, attentive service, and surprisingly reasonable pricing.

You have to see this this if you are in the area. The tram ride itself is only half of the experience, the views on the mini hikes at the top and the chipmunks are more than worth the price of admission.

You start with a ride up the mountainside that goes up forever taking you to the level of the highest peaks above Wallowa Lake. What you see from the bottom is only the first stage of the ride and it looks pretty awesome! The view on the way up is beautiful, but when you get to the top there are several short (1/2 mile or so) hikes you take to view different side of the mountains. It is beautiful and you should not miss it.
The chipmunks run in packs and will eat out of your hand.

The ride down them tram will give you a thrill.
Don't let the cost of a ticket ($27) deter you. MIT was well worth it.
