The Indian Lodge Motel is one of those orginal older motels you remember from your childhood summer vacations. It looks like it was probably built in the late 50's early 60's but has been kept in imaculate condition. It is located just on the south side of town and is within easy walking distance to all of the art gallerys and restaurants in Joseph. We stayed in the "King" room which had not only the bath, but a separate sink area that included a coffee maker and frig. The only downside to this room was the fact that the toilet flushed very slowly, leading one to believe that disaster could occur at any moment. We notified the managers, so hopefully this little glitch will be correct in the future. At $52.00 per night, you can't go wrong with this motel!
While staying in Joseph, we ate at the Outlaw Restaurant and the Stubborn Mule Saloon and Restaurant. Both had great food and reasonable prices, but for some reason, this town thinks air conditioning isn't necessary when it's 95 degrees! So, all in all Joseph, Oregon is a quaint little town, full of art galleries and froo-froo shops that is worthy of a visit, just make it in the spring or fall when it's cool.
