“great family reunion camp area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 23, 2013

The group sites are great for multiple tents and one "support vehicle" like an RV, camper, trailer with cooking facilities is allowed. There are flush toilets and showers near by that are very clean. There is water at the sight. Group A is the biggest site with lots of shade. Group B is right on the river and a bit smaller than A. Group C is the smallest site. They are all close to the regular camping area D so others that are not tent camping can camp right there too. The miniature golf course near by is one of the best I've seen...lots of fun. There are 3-4 different trails that are along side streams within walking distance of camp. Of course the lake is right there and very lovely. Really nice day picnic area. Some in our group rode the tram and said it was worth the $27 with trails you could hike on top and a view of mountains in 4 different states. The fishing person in our group found great fishing up Hurricane creek, close by. The town of Joseph was fun to spend an afternoon in and Enterprise is close enough with interesting tourist options. We spent 3 days there and could easily have spent 2 more going to the galleries and touring the Bronze factory. The campground is clean. Firewood can be purchased for $4. Deer are everywhere in the park and so tame they hardly blink at you. We would go again for sure. Large RVs would have a tight squeeze and backing into some of the campsites would be very tricky even for our 25 ft 5th wheel.

“Well-kept and relaxing”

Very nice area. There is camping area, marina and picinc area. This area really hums in the summer. quiet now because of fall. Would be excellent family vacation in summer, so much to do then, and activities for children as well.

“Great Time at Wallowa Lake and area attractions”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

We had a great time this summer at the campground at Wallowa Lake Campground. We stayed a week in July and Had great weather. I only regret we could not stay longer. We went to the go cart track and our kids had a blast. I have to say so did I as I raced my sons, They also had a really cheap miniature golf course and free awesome mamouth basketball hoop. We even played with the owner of the go kart track! My boys really liked this place, has video games too. The owners are some of the nicest people I have ever met and were so kind to our son who had some challenging injuries he was recovering from. Thanks to them we also were able to take in a 1 hour horseback riding adventure that we enjoyed so much. Lots of great places to visit and eat.The weather was great, it was refreshing and the campground was awesome. Gotta visit this place!

“Great Summer weekend at Wallowa lake”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

Rented a small, pleasant, homey cabin just East of the lake and had visits daily from several deer. Played miniature golf, used paddle boats, rented from the marina, enjoyed sunny day in the park and had a really good time.

“Nice but like most campgrounds, crowded. Excellent for families.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

Okay, we are an older couple and we have been tent camping for 30 years or so... And we like children so that is not the issue. A few late arrivals at two in the morning, don't know how or why they allow that will definitely wake you up... that was no fun.
Like most campgrounds that have one tenting-only circle, there is very little privacy. As if in an area of many acres they can't figure that one out. So viewing nature is getting to watch your neighbors create big smoky campfires. But we like the folks in our tenting circle and met some other couples without kids.
The climbing trails nearby are not for children and are challenging (I took a wicked tumble on the Ice Lake trail) but they will take you up into the high alpine meadows. Reminded us a little of Glacier without the Grizzlies. Very pretty and can be challengng. We were there the third week in August so most of the wild flowers had just gone but still it does feel a little like the Alps. A little...
The campground is definitely set up for kids, big time, but watch them because also lots of traffic and lots of RV's. Still it is like one big playground there so looks good for families.
Joseph is a cool town that closes early each night but the food is good and modestly priced. The grocery store on Main Street was also reasonably priced and had some good fruit sale specials. We could have stocked up on most things right there and if we go back next year will probably hold off on some of that shopping until we get into town. Depends on what you like I suppose; we always do supper out...
