Easy to get to. Not a lot of space between the sites. The South end of the Campground is a distance from the lake shore. You are not far from the NF trailhead that lead into the Eagle Cap Wilderness. We had time for one day hike so we choose the route to Ice Lake. What a beautiful lake -- it is long as day hikes go but well worth it. The campground does offer free showers and after a long hike, it was nice. There are quite a few deer that roam around the campground too. Some people allow their small children get too close. Thankfully, no one was injured.

Wallowa Lake is considerably smaller than Lake Tahoe, but it's unspoiled! No traffic jams, no crazy speed boats.

Tranquility!

The very high jagged mountains on one side of the lake are impressive, and make for enjoyable hikes, climbs, and even horseback rides.

Fun to play in river and lake. Great area for children. Saw a golden eagle fly out of the tree. BEAUTIUL!

I felt like I was in Yosemite, with the mountain peaks and very tall trees circling the campground. The campground was crowded (not much room between some sites) but quiet; they seem to patrol it well. A decent swimming beach, a rocky river to play in, private showers. Two restaurants at the entrance are handy. Too bad we don't own a boat, this really looked like a fun lake. Be sure to do the (privately-owned) tramway across the street.
