We were looking for a place to stay close to the John Day Fossil Beds and came across this place. It's just off the main drag. The room had a liberal amount of square footage compared to the average motel room and came equipped with a nice refrigerator and microwave. Not at all cramped for two people. Excellent value, too. The parking is a little tight, but it's not a big hindrance. Comfy beds. If you're hungry, go the Outpost Restaurant just down the road and mention that you're staying at the Dreamer's Lodge and you'll get a 10% discount!

Price was great and young woman behind the desk was very pleasant. Room had a microwave and fridge. However, carpet and bed spread were questionably clean. Sinks and showers felt as if could malfunction at any time (they didn't). I'd pay more for the Best Western.

BLK23, we assure you our carpet is vacumed daily and cleaned with soap often. When we clean the bed spreads we let them soak in soapy water for 24 hrs before washing them.

Our goal has always been to provide the cleanest rooms in John Day. Everyone in our motel has worked in top tiered hotels (in cities, not John Day)...and I assure you our practices are comparably better, if not equal to theirs.

If your are not certain of our cleanliness I invite you to see other guest reviews. You are also welcome to see our rooms in person and judge for yourself.

We rented the upstairs kitchen suite (small bedroom, curtained off, with queen and twin beds; full, nice-sized kitchen, dining area, living room, large bedroom with door, queen bed and twin bed, shower-fitted bathroom), room 35.

AC kept the rooms very comfortable, even with August heat in the 90s. As other reviewers mentioned, it is an older building, but it's in nice repair, and everything was spotless and fresh-smelling... that *CLEAN* smell that is just clean, not chemicals and fragrance.

The kitchen had good basic dishes and pots/pans, plus two operable windows with screens, and a vent fan, so cooking smells were not a problem.

Dreamer's is walking distance (through the parking lots) to the Outpost, and if you're there, get the cinnamon twists, full order. You will be happy. :)

Our family often has trouble finding rooms that can accommodate all six comfortably. This one, with the mix of bed styles, was great!

WiFi was fast and free, and we got a strong signal, even being the furthest from the office. Being able to self-cater in the full-sized kitchen was great; there's a farmer's market on Saturdays just one block away, and a grocery store a very short drive away.

Though the motel is close to the main roads, our rooms were quiet; our little ones were delighted to watch "town deer" browsing and bedding down in the lot next to the motel in the evenings!

One thing I do wish was different: the curtains open on centered pulleys, so we could not keep one half drawn to block light, and the other open to catch night breezes. That's a pretty minor thing, and did not detract from our stay.

All the beds were comfortable, linens fresh, and there were ample towels and wash cloths. Room 35 has a shower (no bath), so that's something to be aware of if you have little ones who won't use a shower. The hot water did not fail us; with two adults and two teens in the family mix, that's a bonus!

There is ample off-street parking, and we had no trouble navigating the lot with our larger Suburban and "back porch" hitch accessories. Walking distance to downtown shops, two banks, pharmacy, hardware store, antique shops, sit-down and fast food, short walk to the Fairgrounds, very short drive to service stations and the grocery store. Several churches within an easy walk, too.

The owners/managers were great, and should be proud of running such a clean, comfortable motel. We'll look to book the same room again on future visits, as it was just right for a family of six, and VERY affordable--well under what "newer" motels are charging, and much more comfortable, in my opinion.

Room Tip: Ask about one of their kitchen suites. Room 35 is great!

As we are traveling across the country we stopped here after we left Crater Lake Oregon on our way to Hells Canyon. The room we stayed in was Like a two bedroom apartment. We had a full kitchen and a living room.

It was a different kind of stop since we have been either camping or staying at Holiday Inns. Getting a separate room from the kids and the kids having there own beds was excellent for all.

I would recommend the Dreamer for all in the area. Only down side is there is no pool or fitness center.

78 dollars for the night stay which was excellent
