Description: Located in the center of Jacksonville, a historic town in Southern Oregon that got its start as part of the gold rush back in the 1850s, stands the Jacksonville Inn. It’s an elegant bed and breakfast housed in a building built in 18961 complete with walls made of locally quarried sandstone (specks of gold are still visible in the mortar). The historic hotel rooms blend distinctive 19th century décor with the necessities of a connected digital age, including a variety of modern comforts and amenities. Whether or not you are staying in the unforgettable rooms, you will love dining in the superb restaurant with its distinctive menu and impressive wine list featuring over 2,000 wines. The restaurant is known for its attention to detail and personal service and has a passion for building connections with its customers. The Jacksonville Inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has served three U.S. presidents and has provided lodging for a U. S. president and First Lady.

“Good food, great service, new bartender needed!”
Reviewed July 16, 2011

I've been to the Jacksonville Inn many times, the food and service are always predictable, above average. Dining there has always been a treat, whether we have dined on the patio or been in the main restaurant. I highly recommend the sauteed mushrooms as an appetizer, when my wife was pregnant that's all she craved. Its hard for me not to order the baby back ribs, they are always cooked to perfection.
The only negative thing I want to critique is I have had multiple encounters with the bartender and they have been less than pleasant. She may be small in stature, however she has made up for it in attitude. Its unfortunate that one person can make your dining experience go from a ten to a seven.

Great dining experience. Super value. Food tastes fresher and has a more modern presentation. Imaginative and creative. Dare I say trendy for So. Oregon?? Keep it up!

I was amazed at my experience at the Jacksonville Inn. The food was amazing and you can't find better service! We recommend Cody as a server...he doubled as the best waiter and wonderful tour guide! Thank you so much for a wonderful experience that we will be back for.

“Fantastic food, service and atmosphere!”
Reviewed December 30, 2010

This was our second visit and we were not disappointed at all. All four people in our party enjoyed our food, the service and the live piano music. Great value too because the dinners included warm bread and a salad which many restaurants are cutting these days.

“Excellent restaurant with reliably great food and service”
Reviewed December 5, 2010

I eat at the restaurant approximately monthly, and it has reliably great food and service. It is a place I can bring clients who eat at the most expensive places in the world without fear of disappointment. The dinner menu is large, with two or three fish entrées (the owner insists on WILD salmon only), rack of lamb, duck, several chicken dishes, two or three beef dishes, and a two or three vegetarian dishes. The menu marks heart-healthy dishes.

The quality of the restaurant can be inferred by its customers. Both G W Bush and John Kerry had dinners prepared there in 2004 (each had the peppercorn steak--a favorite of mine, too.) It is widely considered the best restaurant in Southern Oregon and the restaurant wins newspaper reader surveys of Best Restaurant year after year.

Regular dinner prices are about $20 to $32, and it includes vegetable, starch, bread and salad. A smaller, "Bistro" menu is also available for slightly smaller appetites or thriftier customers, and dinners are $13-$18.

The Inn also houses Southern Oregon's largest wine store, so the wine menu is huge. The dessert menu is big and exotic. A hazelnut torte from the Inn was on the cover of Bon Appetite. I prefer the truffle flavored home made ice cream, but all of the desserts are large enough to share.
