“Great hospitality, AMAZING food!!!”
Reviewed October 12, 2013 via mobile

After a great day taking in Crater Lake, my partner and I were tired, hungry and in need of a feed. We chanced upon Idleyld Lodge and were so glad we did. Ron is a great host, big smile, friendly, helpful and talkative. He takes great pride in his Lodge, showing us his different themed rooms and his awesome project in the works building a bar and band stage. Oh, and the food! Freshly smoked pulled pork with Ron's unique flavor, YUM! Stoked to be the first Aussies to stick a pin in his big world map. Really hope to return some day. Highly recommended!

We live in Eugene but recently bought some land in Glide, Oregon. I asked a neighbor if there was a motel nearby I could stay at while I worked on the land and they recommended Idleyld Lodge. Ron (part owner) was very helpful and accommodating when I showed up very hungry, tired and dirty from working all day outside. The prime rib sandwich and salad I had was wonderful, and they had fantastic wine also! Breakfast was delicious and big portions, served with homemade jelly made from wine they buy from a local winery. They've worked very hard renovating the lodge and have a big game room and lounge area for karaoke nights etc.--with the only full liquor license in the area. The room was comfortable, and there was a giant chocolate chip cookie wrapped up on the bed with "sweet dreams" written on the card!
A very nice place to spend time with lots to offer in a rustic area.

Idleyld Lodge is one of only a few restaurants providing breakfast, lunch and dinner to the public along the North Umpqua River Valley (Route 138) and the only one located right in Idleyld Park. They also do take-out and catering. Unfortunately I’ve been unsuccessful getting it listed on TripAdvisor under Idleyld Park restaurants.

Don’t let looks discourage you. The lodge – which is also a B&B -- was taken over by new owners last year, and parts of the building are still a work in progress. But the food and service is excellent. Ron, who’s one of the partners, waited on my husband and me during our recent visit and encouraged us to try their barbeque pulled pork sandwich. It truly was one of the best we’ve ever had.

The extensive dinner menu runs the gamut from salads and grilled cheese, burgers and fried bologna to clams, mussels and shrimp. Something for everyone. And we found the prices to be very reasonable. The pulled pork was $9 and included a choice of homemade salt & pepper chips, steak fries, tater tots, side
salad or baked beans

These are obviously very hard working people who are anxious to please their customers.

Had lunch today - the pulled pork sandwich was VERY good and the chocolate cake was the best I've had in ages!!! Kudos to Ron, Jessica & Syd for adding an excellent new place to relax and dine near the beautiful North Umpqua River!

This is a hidden gem. Great food and great staff makes this place a must stop for anyone passing through or nearby. Wish we could stay longer to eat more of their dishes!! Stopped by after a long day running around Crater Lake and this place definitely hit the spot. The pulled pork sandwich was delicious. We almost ordered two each. Instead we ate dessert: 5 layer chocolate cake, 5layer carrot and a strawberry cheesecake. These guys know what they are doing. Check them out.

I stayed at the lodge and had a great time with the Welch family. They where very kind and the food they made was fantastic. As a Dutch tourist I appreciate their authentic American kitchen very much. The room was fine and the bed was perfect. Ron the owner told me they have this lodge a year now and business is getting better. The lodge is located in a stunning environment at the Umpqua river and is a perfect place if you want to visit Crater lake. Keep up the great work fam. Welch and hope to visit your lodge again in the future. Pascal from the Netherlands

This place wasn't open when we first arrived for a host position in a BLM campground so we watched and waited. After a few weeks we noticed the sign advertising a Saturday prime rib dinner and after a very busy day, we treated ourselves to the prime rib dinner. Nice fresh colorful salad, parmesan potatoes, grilled toast and a nice cut of prime rib. One of the owners is a friendly guy who enjoys interacting with his patrons and we loved that he took the time to greet, socialize and seat all who entered. We found out they were recent owners and the place is still in the process of turning into a great local eatery and Inn with plans for entertainment in the near future. We wish them much luck in their venture and will be back to support them in the near future.

Room Tip: We didn't stay at the Inn, just had dinner.
