“Not impressed”

We had a river view room in the East wing on the 1st floor. It must have been the designated dog area. There were a number of dogs on the hall, many barked as you opend your own door or made any noise in the hall. The bathroom was nice, but the brown carpet on the floor and a musty smell gave you a feeling that the room was in need of a renovation. Not the kind of room you want to spend $140 a night for.

This place is hands-down fantastic! It was easy access from the freeway and you can do so much in Hood River without even getting back in your car. We had two wonderful meals on site and our dinner was accompanied by one the best regional wine lists I've ever encountered. The staff also had great advice on things to explore in the area and the various Hood River specialty shops.

The views from the rooms on the Columbia River side are really pretty - we saw deer swimming and heron fishing right from the shoreline of the inn both days. The rooms are ultra clean & comfy, and the inn has an inviting lounge/restaurant area that also has great views. Hard to go wrong.

We were very pleased with this hotel. Nice, big, comfortable, updated rooms with amazing view from the rooms and from the restaurant (with outside patio) of the Columbia River and the bridge that goes across to Washington. The free breakfast was delicious, and at night we enjoyed relaxing in the lounge on a comfy sofa while listening to live music. One note of caution - this is a two-story hotel with no elevators. However, if you need help with your luggage, they do have someone who can help you.

The ladies at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. I feel terrible that I can't remember her name, but there was one young lady who twice spent time with us giving us suggestions and directions to places to see.

Be sure to visit the very nice and scenic Maryhill Winery and museum. But if you're nervous on high, twisty roads like I am, you might want to take the lower and straighter Oregon highway 84 to The Dalles and cross the bridge over to Washington which is then a short ride to Maryhill - rather than taking the bridge close to the hotel across to the Washington side and taking highway 14 all the way to Maryhill. There are many other wonderful, smaller wineries in the area as well and I recommend seeing as many as you can!

It's an easy drive to and from Portland (little over an hour), and a spot not to miss on your trip between Portland to Hood River is Multnomah Falls which is right off the road and very easy walking to see the falls. It is absolutely gorgeous. We had a very nice lunch at the restaurant, and enjoyed browsing through the gift shop.

This is beautiful country with the amazing snow covered Mt. Hood as a backdrop, and you will not be disappointed if you decide to visit the area.

A perfect location in a great scenic Columbia valley. We paid extra to get a river-view room. Very clean in a very good condition, well stocked up with the essentials. Staff in the hotel and the restaurant were professional. Considering that the rate included a full breakfast and 50% off from 2nd main course, paying $112.50 in mid-May was one of the best deals in our 14-days travelling in Oregon.

I attended a week long workshop at the BW in Hood River, OR. Rooms and group meals were included. Pleasant decor, clean, well run, nice staff and excellent food. I was very impressed. This is not a Ritz or a 4 Star. For it's class, it's an A+.

From the minute we walked up to the front desk we were treated like royalty. I would've stayed there just for the view, it is right on the water, but now that I know the people, and have been a guest there, I will always return.

The rooms were immaculate, stylish, well-equipped, and comfortable. Good work areas, good lighting, great bathroom. The staff was so accommodating and gracious. We stayed there for two days and fell in love with the Riverside Grill on the premises. Fine, fresh food, great wait staff, lovely ambiance, and generous portions.

My one recommendation would be to check a room for noise levels. We had to be moved due to bridge noise, but once we moved to the right wing we were able to open the windows and enjoy the view and fresh air.
