I stayed in Hood River for one night during a recent trip to Oregon, and was impressed by the caliber of this Best Western. My room was on the third floor, overlooking the river, and had a small balcony. The room had obviously been updated recently. When I checked in, I was also given a coupon for free breakfast in the restaurant as well as a dinner coupon. A couple of negatives, but otherwise it was a great stay. The bathroom could be improved with a hook for the bathrobes and a rack/bar of some sort for a washcloth in the shower. I did use the pool, which was a bit on the cool side, and unfortunately, the hot tub water was also cold. The hotel is conveniently located at the eastern end of the Columbia River Gorge and north of Mt. Hood, so it makes it an ideal place for anyone stopping over between those attractions. Overall, I had a very enjoyable stay at the Best Western Hood River.

Room Tip: Definitely opt for a river view room!

Dear LIrwin13, Thank you for staying with us on your recent visit to the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area. We're glad to hear you thoroughly enjoyed your stay, and that you found the location convenient, the room comfortable and clean, and that you appreciated our recent renovation. Yes we forgot but thanks to you just added the robe hook on the back of the bathroom door. We're sorry to hear you experienced some inconvenience with the pool and spa temperature. Perhaps we'd just drained and cleaned the spa which would explain the cool temperature there but the swimming pool should have been a warm 86 degrees, I will look into that. Thank you again and we very much look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Hood River!

Did not expect a Best Western to be this upscale. View of the river is amazing, the room was large, clean with a good decor Employees friendly and helpful. Pool are was modern with a great view of the river. The restaurant was also good. Could not have asked for anything more. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view.

My best friend and I were super excited to stay at this hotel since it was right along the river. Once we checked in immediately the young lady at the front desk was rude. She didn't speak much and just gave us our room keys and pointed to the left saying our room was "Down that way, past the handicap parking spots". We searched for our room and after 15 minutes finally found it. When we go up to the door the keys were already de-magnetized, and we were in the basement facing the parking lot. We went back to the front desk and waited in line.. noticed that the demeanor of the young lady at the front desk had completely changed for another guest, asked if he wanted a view room, and if he would like a property map outlining specifically where his room was. Then the next morning I woke up, looked at my sheets and there was a brown particle stuck to my sheets - it was gross.

Enjoyed the location of the hotel, the waitstaff in the restaurant was excellent, but unhappy with the initial treatment when checking into the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for the new wing, or a room not facing the parking lot...

Dear Taylor B, Many thanks for taking the time to write a review. As is the case in most hotels, there is a possibility of a room without a view. We have been sold out nearly every night recently, so when you made your reservation through Expedia all the river view rooms in their inventory were booked. We do however hold our own inventory for river view rooms so when booking in the future a direct call to our property 800-828-7873 or to Best Western central reservations 800-528-1234 is your best bet. Our river view rooms do fill up first!

I apologize for the indifferent attitude of our front desk clerk at check in, she is typically one of our most efficient. I will discuss your review with her personally so to avoid a future occurrence. Your comment re: discovering something on your bed sheet upon awakening is concerning but I can assure you, we score very high marks for housekeeping on both our regular in house inspections and on our semi annual Best Western inspections. Our housekeeping department is one of the highest rated in the Best Western system.

Thank you for your kind comments about our location and our excellent restaurant staff. If at all possible, please give me a call as I would like to discuss your review in more detail and would appreciate the opportunity to have you visit us again.

The rooms at the Inn are spacious, clean, and nicely decorated. The view of the Columbia and the walk along its banks are a wonderful asset. If you're like me, a light sleeper, bring ear plugs in case you stay in an east end room. The freeway traffic may keep you up for a while. But that's the cost of travelling.

All of the staff at the facility are exceedingly accommodating, informative, and welcoming. I'd recommend the Inn with the lovely outdoor pool and hot tub, and the great restaurant (super food at decent prices) to everyone. I'll certainly be back.

We received one of the new rooms in the East Wing and it had a great view and was brand new!
This Hotel was a surprise as it was much nicer than expected. I knew I would be getting a nice room, very clean but didn't expect the quality of the room and furnishings.
We were upgraded to the new wing and given complimentary breakfast vouchers as well as a voucher for half off the second entree in their restaurant...which is very nice.
We had a deck overlooking the river and their is a very nice walking path starting at this property that takes you along the river and right into town, about a 35 minutes easy walk.
I highly recommend staying here. Great location and reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new wing with a river view

We have been staying at this hotel on the Columbia River for fifteen years or more, and we are pleased with the recent remodel that added beautiful new rooms with high ceilings and river balconies to the East Wing.

These rooms come with all the amenities including Turkish-bath sized towels, robes, and slippers.

We greatly enjoyed our stay in one of these rooms on June 18, and we look forward to doing so again before long.

The room comes with a sit-down breakfast in a large, cheerful, riverfront dining room. Our waitress, Marlene, was a delight and she provided us great service..

Room Tip: If possible, book a river-facing room on the 3rd floor of the East Wing.

What an unexpected pleasure this hotel is! The landscaping is stunning and the many huge windows in the hotel and its restaurant allowed us to enjoy it from the inside. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated. Our first floor room had a balcony over Hood River -- the perfect place to relax with a glass of wine. The room itself was attractive, large, well furnished, and very clean. A huge bonus for our party of three was the full bath with an additional sink outside it.

We were offered a choice of complimentary breakfasts, and they were excellent, as was the service. The coffee, which our waiter proudly told us was Portland Roasting's award-winning Papua New Guinea, was exceptionally good. The restaurant is beautiful and we were sorry that we had not tried dinner there the night before.

Although this hotel is just off the major highway, we did not notice noise either inside or on our balcony. It was a little tricky to drive back to the hotel from elsewhere in Hood River, but the front desk provided us with a map that helped. The only drawback is that most of the entries are up several stairs, a problem for one of us with knee problems. However, there is one entry to the basement level and an elevator that is down a ramp from the parking lot that can be used after check-in.

I'm hoping to return again for a longer stay soon.
