Horsetail falls is a full, horsetail shaped waterfall located right along the side of the road. There is a parking lot across the street and it makes for some really nice pictures (the falls, not the parking lot) :)

We're from the flat Nebraska prairie and are fascinated by the Columbia River and its tributaries. We stop at every falls we see. Appreciate the placards and signs that explain the geology and typography of the Oregon sites.

Right off the road with light playing in the trees.

Other waterfalls, like Multnomah, get more attention, but this is still a great stop.

From the parking area it is just steps away to the base of this 176 foot tall waterfall. It also the only one we visited where it is easy to get down to the water area and actually wade in. Lots of shady spots to rest and have a snack before doing the rest of the Columbia River Gorge.

When you enter this are of the Columbia River Gorge this is the 1st waterfall you encounter. I actually preferred this one over Multnomah simply because there was only a handful of people here so it was more serene. Lovely waterfall to get a few nice shots of.
