Beautiful part of Wash-Oregon. The river itself is rich with history and there are all sorts of museums and roadside attractions to inform you about the formation and development of the gorge.

Can't add any more, so many places to stop and admire the scenery. We stopped for a tour at the dam - very interesting.

We really enjoyed our morning drive along the Gorge. We drove from Corbett to the Bridge of the Gods along the Historic Columbia River Highway which runs parallel to the main interstate but is a much more attractive drive. Along the way there are number of short stops you can do, including viewpoints and waterfalls.

In the order we did it, the highlights for us included:

• Portland Women’s Forum – view point of the river from car parking area.
• Vista House - view of the river from car parking area, the house was closed when we visited.
• Latourell Falls – 249ft falls just off the roadside where you can walk to a viewpoint.
• Shepherds Dell St Natural Area – here there are 2 waterfalls a very short walk from the road.
• Bridal Veil – a 10 minute fairly steep walk each way to 100ft falls and viewpoint.
• Wahkeena Falls – 242ft falls which were about a 20 minute walk from the road.
• Multnomah Fall – The most popular waterfall, lots of parking with toilets and gift shops, etc. It is a short 20 minute or so walk to the bridge over the falls.
• Horsetail Falls – a 5 minute walk from the road are some attractive 176ft falls.

We spent a short time at each stop and would recommend each of the short but often steep walks to each of the waterfalls.

Beautiful scenery and a must see, great hiking, biking, water sports Something for everyone..you can take moderate to extensive hikes, camping etc. Fun stops along the way for picnics if you want to just have a slow pace visit you can pack a picnic stop at a beautiful area and get back on the road for amazing views of rivers and waterfalls!
