Skate World serves its purpose if your an avid roller skater but it would be nice if they invested some money in themselves to make it more modern. I know roller skating is an old 70's fad but does the building still have to feel like the 70's?

Kids love skating here. It's very dated, but in good condition in general. This seems to be a popular place to have a party or event. The snack food is okay. Beginners will appreciate having the smaller practice rink. There are also some arcade games and air hockey tables. The staff were all helpful and friendly.

We took our kids to Skate World this week, and they had a great time. The staff is up-beat and kid-friendly, and the DJ took the kid's music requests. They also had some fun games that the kids enjoyed - and won coupons for free things at the snack bar (or plastic junk). Admission was reasonable ($4.75 for 4.5 hours, includes skate rental), and the rink offers 2-for-1 coupons in many locations (Entertainment book, etc.). Food prices were also fairly reasonable (unlike movie theaters lately - gads!). Discount snackbar deals were announced regularly throughout the session ($1 popcorn, etc.). The $0.50 otterpops were a big hit with my kids. We also appreciated that Skate World has air conditioning. (the Oaks either doesn't have air conditioning, or doesn't turn it on - last time we went there it was sooo warm).

The Skate World facility is looking a little run-down, but I understand that they are replacing their carpet and resurfacing the floor this summer (2009). Wasn't bad, just not updated.
