“Good price but not the best stay in Hillsboro by far.”
Reviewed May 15, 2014

My husband had to book our hotel quickly as we were traveling to Hillsboro for a family funeral and there was something going on in town that all the better hotels were reserved or taken already. So we stayed at the Comfort Inn by the Hillsboro airport. You don't hear any noises but the hotel itself is lacking. They don't have an elevator, so if you have heavy luggage you must lug it up the stairs yourself. Its only two floors but its a pain when you have many things to bring up to your room.

The rooms were okay, beds slightly firm and the pillows were either firm or soft depending on the ones you use as they put four on each bed. The bathrooms were fine and we never had a problem with the room, but it was basic by far. The SpringHill hotel we stayed in the last time we visited in 2013 was by far better. We never ate breakfast at the Comfort Inn, and I never saw the room as it was slightly hidden away from the main lobby. The decor is drab like the 90's style not updated.

I will not be staying here again when we return to Oregon.

Thank you for your comments. The building may have some age but the rooms are furnished with the most up to date amenities and furnishings to help make each and every guests stay more relaxing and enjoyable. I'm sorry you didn't partake in the breakfast as it features items pleasing to every type of person and plenty of it. And thank you for pointing out the good price. Proudly we're among the lowest rates in town yet still provide excellent service and clean, comfortable up-to-date rooms.

(This is the second time we've stayed here.) This motel has been quite good for our stop to visit relatives in the area. Room size is adequate. The bed, pillows, and comforter are good. Breakfast is okay--nothing fancy, but as good as the usual motel offerings. They allow our dog, and there are nearby fields for getting him out. We'll stay here again.

Room Tip: The back side will be quieter because of the airport and busy road on the front.

Thank you for your review. Yes, we are pet friendly and have the perfect location if you want to get your dog out for a run. Not only are the rooms clean and up-to-date with the latest Choice requirements, our rates are positioned to be among the lowest in the market. We hope to see you back in the near future and don't forget your pet.

There were ants in my room, I informed the front desk and they did not offer to move us. The bathroom door was out of the latch. The hot tub was out of service and that was one of the major reasons why we stayed in that comfort inn.

Room Tip: For the room to be checked to make sure there is no ants..try to keep hot tub working.

I'm so sorry for your disappointing stay. First let me say that when mechanical issues come up it can really dampen ones mood and we try our very best to move our guests to a Jacuzzi room that does work if one is available. If you were addressing our public spa, then all I can do is apologize and hope you give us another try as this is a very unusual occurrence. We have a monthly contract with a pet control service and rarely do we have complaints regarding ants or any other pest. Again, thank you for your comments as this will help us improve.

On the good side, their rate is competitive for the area.

I don't know that the room I stayed in - a single queen bed room - is representative of the hotel, but what a dumpy room. It's small and cramped. The whole room, except for the tiny bathroom, is carpeted in a dark color that hides who knows what. The room is so dimly lit even with the dim lamps turned on, it's hard to see. And the room was 'perfumed' with some fragrance that drove my allergies crazy. If are sensitive to perfumes and fragrances, you'll want to know this.

What matters most to me - at least the bed was clean. I checked it thoroughly for any signs of bed bugs and I didn't find any. And I don't seem to have been attacked by the little critters during the night. That's good.

The room was noisy from neighboring rooms - TV, talking, etc. I'm sure they could hear me as well. Very thin walls.

The heating system worked - it's one of those typical hotel/motel units built into the wall. It's noisy! When it ran I had to turn up the TV, then turn the TV down when the heating unit turned off.

The room had a small refrigerator and a microwave tucked into a section of the overall cabinet that also held the TV and a few drawers. The TV hides behind some pocket doors - gives you a very limited viewing angle to watch TV - you pretty much have to be sitting right in front of the TV to watch it, which is you sitting on the bed. Very poor selection of channels. The TV menu system makes you think they have orderable movies, but they do not.

How to say this tactfully - if you are a 'large' person - I am not - you may have issues in the bathroom. It's tight. And in general maneuvering around the room. It's cramped.

Yes, they have a complimentary breakfast. Beware the scrambled "eggs". Horrible concoction. Best I can figure, they were poorly mixed and prepared powdered eggs at best. They had other things to eat, thankfully.

I guess overall, if you are looking for a relatively cheap place to stay/crash in a reasonably safe area, this place will suffice.

Room Tip: No advice - just ask about the room size. And if you are sensitive to perfumes or fragrances, ask i...

I stayed here 2 weeks during a business trip. Rooms are ok, well equipped, but standard. It was always clean, no complains there. The breakfast was good, enough to choose from, bagels, waffles, coffee, juice, cereals, jogurt, fruits, eggs and bacon. The location is maybe not the biggest selling point: the Hillsboro airport is located on the other street side. Allthough a small local airport, there is much activity, small jets, lot of helis are cruising around. So don't forget ear plugs. The fitness center does not deserve this name, small tiny room with 2 treadmills, but better than nothing.

Room Tip: Probably better back side of the main Cornell road, to get the noise from airport a little down

The pros: friendly staff, hot breakfast with eggs, meat, yogurt, etc., nice thick blankets, nice heater.
The cons: no indoor pool and the outdoor one is only seasonal, small rooms, older building with the usual neighbor noise problem, wifi worked only intermittently, so bad we tethered the laptop to our phone and used our cell data. If you have kids be aware there are no Disney or Nicklodeon channels.
We had a fair price and feel like we got what we paid for. I think I will be moving on from the Comfort Inn brand as their standards seem to keep dropping. But I feel it's only fair to say the staff does the best they can working with what they've got.

Thank you for sharing your comments - We are sadden that you will be moving on from the Brand because of your recent experience. To be fair to the Brand, other Comfort Inn Hotels are geared towards family & leisure guests perhaps more than this particular location, as we are in the center of the Silicon Forrest of the tech industry. Other locations might yield a different experience. We do our best to accommodate families and children but understand and sympathize with your experience. We hope that you will consider staying with us again so that we can have another chance to provide you with a superior experience.
