“Nice Surprise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2011

Stayed at this Motel while passing thru Grant's Pass. Splurged a bit on a suite. Clean, comfortable and inexpensive. I will stop again.

Very clean, roomy and comfortable. We were travelling up to Seattle from San Francisco and needed a good economical stop for the night. This hotel was spot on!

We stayed at this motel on our way through Grants Pass in Oct/11. We were travelling with our pooch, so we booked a dog friendly room (1108) with a little patio attached, which was a nice little extra. The front desk staff were very friendly and endeared themselves immediately to our dog by presenting her with a baggie of dog biscuits.

The room was had everything we needed - it was nice and clean, with tile floors throughout and a little kitchenette. The sink in the kitchenette doubled as the bathroom sink and the toilet and shower were in a separate room, which was quite roomy. There was a fan in the bathroom, which is always a plus in my book! Shower was great - good water pressure, nice and hot. The room smelled a little harsh when we got there - because it was a pet room, there were a lot of air fresheners in there. But once we unplugged and moved them outside, it was perfect.

There was a large flatscreen TV mounted in the corner of the room with plenty of channels to choose from - very nice after a long, crazy drive. The bed was insanely comfortable - might be too soft for some, but it was just right for us. I know for sure that we had at least one other person staying in the next room but we didn't hear a thing all night - it was very quiet.

The pet area is indeed mainly gravel, but nice pea gravel, and it does have a few nice bits landscaping for dogs like mine, who mainly likes to sniff trees and shrubs. Having it right outside our door was super handy for early morning and late night bathroom breaks. The pet area isn't entirely enclosed, and our dog enjoys running into busy streets, so we kept ours on leash - but there was certainly room for a ball-chasing type of dog to enjoy a good run.

I don't imagine we'll be passing through Grants Pass again anytime soon, but if we did, we would certainly book here again. Love a pet-friendly place!

Room Tip: If you bring your pooch, Room 1108 is right next to the pet area and has its own cute little patio.

I stayed here for 2 nights in early October just exploring Oregon on my own. The location is great and you can easily walk into the historic district. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The room I had was gigantic - bigger than my first house in the UK! and well equipped with fridge, microwave, table chairs and even a comfy armchair. Everywhere was spotless. The outdoor pool and hot tub were brilliant after a long drive. A complementary continental breakfast is included and coffee and chocolate-chip cookies available in the lobby all day. definitely not to be missed.

Green Trees, couple of swings, pool and jaccuzzi welcome you into the property. You park right next to your room (at least that was true for us). The bed is firm and nice to sleep on and Bathroom is also not bad at all. The breakfast is continental but free in the morning.

Cons.
There was NO TV Remote in our room and they had none to replace with that night. They got us one the next day. Management staff is also not that friendly. If they fix that and fix the "Remote Control" type of problems, this motel is a nice surprise in Grants Pass.

We have been staying at the Redwood Motel routinely for over 5 years. It all started when my husband and I were looking for retirement property in Grants Pass. It took much longer than we anticipated and we ended up "doing" the 400+ one-way drive at least every other weekend for over 5 months. Since we aren't ready to retire yet, we've turned the house into income property. We still like to be a part of the Grants Pass scene, so we still drive up 2 or more times a year.....and always stay at the Redwood Motel.

We love the rooms - especially after the remodeling. We love the pool - especially the hot tub. We love the staff and have become good friends with several of them.

Our latest trip was over Memorial Day weekend this year when we had a family reunion there. We had my 91-year old Mom and my husband's 88-year old Mutti, ourselves, and our daughter, two grandkids (a teen and a tween), and their dog. Shelley did a great job of getting us room in a row. The lobby and continental breakfast worked out great considering that nobody seemed to have the same wake up schedule. Nobody had to sit in their room alone waiting for everyone else to get up. The lobby was our morning gathering place.

We'll be coming up again next month for some "house" business. I look forward to seeing Shelley and the gang!

We came to Grant's Pass to see family and area attractions. We spent 7 nights at the motel and felt like we received big value for our room. The room was more like what I have gotten in the past using time share credit. Our room was spacious with a large bathroom. It was ADA compliant. The walk-in shower was roomy had a fixed and a wand type shower head. The bed was very comfortable. There was a nice refrigerator with a small freezer compartment.
The complimentary continental breakfast was nicely stocked with cereals, many bread choices, fresh fruit, juice and fresh hot coffee.
The office and housekeeping staff were helpful and attentive.
The grounds are beautifully landscaped and well maintained. The location of the motel was central to all our activities.
My first time to visit Oregon and was very pleased with the entire experience!

Room Tip: We were in Room 1122 and will request it upon our next stay. Comfortable, roomy and quiet.
