If you are looking for a beautiful place to retreat in Oregon, the Weasku Inn in Grants Pass is the place! My husband and two teenage daughters and I chose to stay there on the return road trip from Portland back home to San Diego based on the TripAdvisor reviews and pictures. We have found in the past some times places can be over rated, so we were all so wonderfully surprised to find this treasure to be even more than we expected! We stayed two nights in a darling cabin over looking the river with our own private back patio. The cabin, grounds, and lodge were immaculate. The surroundings were pristine, green with beautiful trees, and very tranquil, so much so that we chose to play cards on the lodge deck overlooking the grounds over going any where else. The special touches from warm cookies each evening and a fabulous light breakfast with options of freshly baked scones and cinnamon rolls just made the trip all the more sweet. To top it all off, the staff was very friendly and welcoming and especially, Allison, who made us feel at home from the moment we drove in late our first evening. Plus she recommended a must experience old fashion little soda fountain with the best ice cream and old fashion sodas in historic downtown called the Grant's Pass Pharmacy that we all just loved.
In closing, on our next road trip to Portland, we will eagerly look forward to planning a couple of days retreat at the Wesaku Inn! Be sure and stay here, you'll be so glad you did!
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- This Oregon legend was built in 1924 along the banks of the scenic Rogue River. It was a vacation retreat to many Hollywood personalities such as Clark Gable, Carol Lombard and Walt Disney. In 1993, Country House Inns purchased the Weasku Inn and began restoring it. In September of 1998, the restoration was complete, the five rooms in the Lodge having been updated, while the original character and splendor was maintained. In addition, eleven cabins were built on the property and an original A Frame cabin remodeled. Since its completion, "Travel and Leisure Magazine" named this historic landmark "one of the top 25 Lodges in the United States". Recently, in "1,000 Places to See Before You Die: A Traveler's Life List ", Patricia Shultz declared the Weasku Inn one of those "must see" places.
