This hotel is just down the street from a Comfort Inn where we very nearly stayed. My husband was ready to settle in for the night and we'd already checked rates and found the place when I spotted the Shilo Inn. I had never stayed at one before and wanted to check it out. So glad we did! Nothing against the Comfort Inn, but the Shilo is nicer. The room was much larger, we got a king size bed instead of a queen, there was a nice pool (this was in early September, and was still plenty warm,) and at a better rate than Comfort, too. The décor is a little dated as others have mentioned, but everything was clean and in good condition, and those things are the most important to us. We were very happy with our choice and to top it off, the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The young man from Alabama at the front desk couldn't have been nicer. These folks really understand hospitality. If we find ourselves in Grant's Pass for overnight again, we will head straight for Shilo Inn!

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms still have stairs to navigate. Not many, but you must go down eight or so steps, so it really doesn't matter if you are on the ground floor or not.

I have stayed here before and this is the best price and quality in the area. You can stay at a motel if you want to but I would suggest here! The staff is very friendly and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Not your top of the line hotel if that's what your looking for but good luck finding that in Grants Pass... Small town with a great view of the mountains.

This hotel won't win any awards for décor or layout, but our room was comfortable and quiet, and everything worked well (we didn't need heat or A/C, so can't comment on those.)

The continental breakfast was convenient, and the front desk clerks were efficient and welcoming. The only real drawback to the hotel was the odd layout, with four stairs both up to the entrance, and then five more down to the hall - so that large wheeled suitcases that could normally be rolled had, instead, to be carried.

The desk recommended the Black Bear restaurant next door. It was fine for a simple late-night meal.

Thanks so much for your comments. Next time you stay with us, let the front desk know you would not like to traverse the stairs and we can make sure that you get a level ground floor room with no stairs to conquer.

We stayed two nights at the Shilo Inn Grants Pass. We drove from Seattle to Los Angeles and stayed on the way down and the way back. The staff was nice and the room is clean. It's a little small with the toilet and bathtub in the same room. No cooler but the iron, hairdryer, TV and A/C was all I good working order. The breakfast is fair with the usual things bagels, muffins, hard boiled eggs, and coffee. The location off the freeway is nice and HUMAN BEAN coffee place across is great. I would stay again.

Check in and check out were simple and pleasant. The staff couldn't have been any nicer. The location was easy to find (right off I-5) and only a short drive from the historic downtown area.

The hallways and rooms looked a bit old (perhaps a nicer way to say it would be "nostalgic"), but were adequately comfortable. When traveling with our two children, we appreciate twin queen beds as our room had. The wi-fi signal in room 215 was fine, so we were able to access Google maps and work on our trip plans.

The breakfast room was under renovation, so future guests will find an improvement. I didn't eat breakfast, but my family said it was decent.

Overall it was a good value for the price paid.

Room Tip: Rooms near the office get better wi-fi reception
