Description: In January 1991 the Mt Hood Brewing Company opened, serving locally-produced beers and hearty pub fare in a family-friendly atmosphere. In October 1992, the newly constructed ten barrel brewery rolled out its first barrel. Eight distinctive ales are produced by the union of pure glacial water, Pacific Northwest barley and hops and the inspiration of the Mt Hood Brewing Co's brewers. These delightful beers can be enjoyed at the Mt Hood Brewing Co brewpub in Government Camp and throughout Timberline's other Mt Hood restaurants. Oregonians can also find these ales on draft at restaurants throughout the state. The Mt Hood Brewing Co was founded upon the notion that, like the best wines, beer is best produced in small, handcrafted batches utilizing the finest ingredients. The brewery's commitment to this standard demands that each keg arrives at its destination while still in its prime, fresh and wholesome. Thus, none of the beer leaves the State of Oregon. Like the beer, Mt Hood Brewing Co's food is always fresh and locally-sourced. Kids and adults alike enjoy the pub's tasty starters, signature pizzas and hearty entrees. Many menu items are prepared with Mt Hood Brewing Co beer and are best paired with a cold pint. Thousands of skiers, tourists and locals have made the Mt Hood Brewing Co an institution on the south slope of Mount Hood.

“Decent Food and Beer”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

The best thing about the Ice Axe Grill is that it is at the foot of Mt Hood. It is a typical brew pub - casual and kind of noisy. The restaurant itself is situated between the main road and a loop off the main road, and, as such, does not offer any views of the spectacular scenery in the area.

We met a family member for lunch at the Ice Axe on a holiday weekend. There weren't many people in the restaurant when we got there so service was very good - can't comment how it might be when they are busy. I sampled one of their micro-brews, which I found to be okay but nothing special. My daughter ordered spinach artichoke dip with naan and found it to be very good. The family member that we met ordered a burger that looked to be good, my wife had soup and salad that were also good, while I had pork sliders that were just fine. Most of the burgers and sandwiches were priced $13 - $15, a little on the high side.

I would sum up the Ice Axe as having decent food, decent beer and decent atmosphere in a great place ..... Mt Hood.

“Great beer and casual atmosphere”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

Good place to kick back with a good local beer. The sweet potato fries are a great snack food. Easy to get in and out. Burgers were delicious.

“Great food and service”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

Whenever we are in the area, my husband and I stop in. Today we split the Chicken Ciabatta (sp?) sandwich along with a couple of micro brews. Upgrade to the sweet potatoes fries for just a buck. Well worth it. The 1/2 spinach salad was good to split as well. It was nice to sit outside and enjoy the perfect weather. It was especially delicious after our backpacking trip up to Elk Meadows.

“Great Food - Great Beer!”
Reviewed August 30, 2012

We hit the Ice Axe Grill on a recent road trip through the Mt. Hood area. The food, service and atmosphere were all great!

Burgers, salads and sides were all tastefully prepared as ordered and delivered quickly, all for a reasonable price!

When in the Mt. Hood area, be sure to stop in at the Ice Axe Grill!
