Best Western Mt. Hood Inn
Ranked #1 of 2 Hotels in Government Camp
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed May 24, 2011

Stayed at Mount Hood Inn whilst visiting Government Camp to climb Mount Hood.

On arrival the staff were really helpful and friendly and even upgraded us without even asking. We had a large room with a jacuzzi tub which was great after a hard day's hiking.

Good high speed internet access available.

Breakfast is self-service in the lobby, simple, yet good continental style.

For dinner we ate in the Ice Axe Grill next door which also has a micro-brewery which was excellent. Great opportunity to try lots of different beers. The burgers were great, particularly the Green Muddler and the Baker. Staff were friendly, relaxed and really helpful.

Only downside was the noise from the I26, but it didn't stop us sleeping as it is not a hugely busy road.

Got government rate. They even upgraded us to a king room with a spa for no additional charge. Desk clerk did not know how to input my frequent flyer number, but he might have been new. Nice place for the.price with cozy automosphere and decent breakfast.

We went up to Gov Camp for a 4 day ski trip and stayed at the Mt Hood Inn. The hotel is very conveniently located close to all winter activities. We stayed in a family suite which had a full kitchen, bedroom and living area.

The room was relatively clean although I would not recommend walking barefoot on the floor. The couch had lots of spots on it and a broken leg. The beds were terrible and gave me a sore back/neck during the entire stay.
The noise level in this hotel is horrific. There are kids running down corridors all hours of the night. You could hear every sound from the adjoining rooms including the room above ours. We had our phone ring several times in the middle of the night waking everybody up. The front desk claimed that they knew nothing about it but at the same time told me that they mistakenly transferred some calls to our room.

I understand that this is a limited service hotel but they had no service to speak of. They would not bring extra towels or pillows to our room. We had to walk down to the front desk to get it from them. I have a small child and was told that I could leave him alone in the room or bring him with me to pick necessary items (which should have been in the room to begin with) up from the front desk.

The breakfast is small and includes the usual cereals/muffins/bagels etc. Since we had a kitchen in our room we did not eat in the lobby. The lobby area itself is nice with a fireplace and computers set up for guests to use. There are also Legos and other games/toys for the kids to play with.

The hotel does provide Wi-Fi free of charge but the speed is very slow. I would say it’s about as fast as dial up or maybe just a bit faster. It is definitely not high speed.

The covered garage parking fills up very fast. We were told by the front desk that the hotel was not even half full and there was no parking (garage or outside). The front desk told us that they don't have enough parking spots to accommodate all of the rooms in the hotel. This can be an issue if you have lots of gear.

I like the hotel’s location but will probably not stay here again if at all possible.

This is a renovation done right...as you can see our room with the jet bath tub is great...even a shower in the bathroom...only 12 channels on the flat screen but who comes here to watch tv? Wifi up 95% of our stay, indoor parking - it is snowing 10" today...Snowbowl lift is 300 meters down the road.

We hit all three ski locations, timberline and meadows just 12 miles away and snowbowl right here. We are on our fourth night of a five night stay here and
love it. Free lockers for snowboards/ski equipment...indoor jacuzzi but never been there as you can see what we have in our room.

we arrived on a Monday and had a little trouble at check in as our first room was not finished yet, the second room we got a key to was not finished either but the third was...not a big deal for us..they had a sold out weekend and were busy. With 6 cars in the parking lot we are loving the mid week quietness of the hotel as they sell out each weekend in winter.

They have alot of specials on their website so check it out. I recommend this place for sure...we are off this weekend to another Best Western at Hood River this weekend which is also tripadvisor top rated for that area.
Free breakfast included tons of stuff, breakfast burritos, muffin, english muffins, ham, bagels, all juices, coffee, tea, apples, oranges, bananas.

We stayed here a few years ago and it was fine, but the improvements they've made in their remodel and just the little things they've added to their amenities/customer service made it over the top wonderful! Free shuttle service to Skibowl for sledding and skiing, and a close restaurant meant we never even had to drive anywhere.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback to other about your stay at the hotel. My partners and I just purchased the hotel last year and have spent a lot of money to upgrade the hotel. We love the Mt Hood area and want our hotel there to provide all the comforts of home for travelers taking a short break and spending time up on Mt Hood.

We could not believe how nice this place was for the value. This hotel is very clean, the beds are surprisingly comfortable, the sheets are soft and of good quality, the check-in took us a total of 1 minute, and the lobby is useable and convenient. I almost never take advantage of the continental breakfast but at this hotel, I found it to be convenient and delicious. I had a breakfast burrito and great coffee and my boyfriend had donuts and a bagel with cream cheese.

The hotel is nicely located to all of the Mt. Hood action.
