we took the 64 mile meal boat tour,,, and enjoyed it very much. We stayed in Agness ,,,which is where the mail boat ends its trip. So we hitched a ride from Agness to Gold Beach and of the trip one way. Very easy ride and lots of fun. We stayed in this area for three days so we had plenty of chances to see the jet boat tours. For younger adventurous people don't mind getting wet ,,,the jet boat tour is probably the way to go. In either case I don't think you can go wrong,,,,. Beautiful part of Oregon on a beautiful river.

WOW this was fun. took 2 hours to get to our lunch stop up river because of all the stops for wildlife and spin arounds, but back it only took an hour as now he was skimming over the water. well worth the price and time. would do it again if we ever go back to that area

We were able to take our family of 5 for the long trip (about 6.5 hours) this past July. It was AMAZING! Our driver was very skilled and did things with that boat that surprised us all! The small places and rapids that can be navigated is amazing! Our driver was engaging and fun and found LOTS of wildlife including seals, eagles, deer, beaver for us to enjoy. He shared lots of local history and provided a fun, exciting ride. The only reason this review gets 4 instead of 5 is because the food at the restaurant wasn't as good as we hoped. It was fine and we were hungry and thankful for it and the prices were average. I would HIGHLY recommend this trip for families with kids older than 4 or 5. It's a very long day for the very little kiddos.

I hesitated to drive all the way to Gold Beach just for a jet boat trip. We had been on the Hellgate jet boats out of Grants Pass, so I knew they were very fun, but still- it seemed a long drive just for this. Ha! Make the trip! It is SO worth it!
We arrived at the little shop prior to the ride, where we got our tickets and browsed the sweatshirts and souvenirs before boarding. They do have rain jackets to loan for the trip. Soon it was time to walk down the ramp to board the boats for our 64 mile historic mail route trip. It was the end of the season, so Jerry's was using smaller boats than they do in the summer.
The best thing about the ride was the amazingly beautiful scenery. Even more beautiful than on the Hellgate trip, which is really saying something! And if you can, plan to go in the fall- the colors were stunning. The orange, gold and crimson pallet reflected like a mirror on the water, so we got a double dose of vibrant color!
Just like on the Hellate trip, our guide gave us frequent spins- but only on the way back, so as not to freeze us in the early morning coolness! The only kind of negative thing my daughter mentioned was that our guide didn't give us any information on the mail delivery that used to be provided with mail boats up and down the remote stretches of the Rogue- she is a lover of history and that would have been interesting. But he was a fount of any other information about the boat, the river and the company. Our guide was a relative of the company's founder.
We stopped for lunch at Galice, where the road ends for those driving up river in a car. The Wild and Scenic stretch was up ahead, but that was covered on one of their longer trips. We had the opportunity to choose between two lunch destinations- Singing Springs Lodge or Cougar Lane, which was our destination. This was especially nostalgic for me as I worked upriver back in the 80's at Clay Hill Lodge, and I remembered Cougar Lane from way back. It had undergone some improvements, I must say. It was a charming lodge with a restaurant with both indoor or outdoor seating. We chose the large deck overlooking the river. The food was excellent, made even better with the view and, well, doesn't food always taste better when enjoyed outdoors? They did not rush us, and when we were done we meandered back down the sloping path to our waiting boat. They do have transportation up and down from the river if needed, but it wasn't a bad walk uphill. (The walk up to the OK Corral on Hellgate was steeper.) Keep in mind that you do have to pay for your lunch- for this 64 mile trip, it is not included in the price of your trip)
Then the excitement began as our guide spun us over and over again on the way back! We got wet, but I suspect not quite as wet as he would've gotten us had it been 100 degrees out! And, of course, the folks fishing along the river all waved as we whizzed past. Then back under the beautiful 1,898 foot long Rogue River Bridge, built in 1930, and sadly our wonderful trip was over.
So, was it worth the drive? I hope to return every fall just for this trip! Oh, and we were surprised at the town of Gold Beach itself. Many interesting shops and things to see to fill our time the day before our boat trip.
Bon Voyage!

We were treated very well. Was great to be able to grab a water proof jacket lent at the store where you catch the boat. Our driver/host was very knowledgeable about the area and we enjoyed his interaction with other fishermen on the river. The spins were really fun and the lunch was good.

Went as a foursome. The good mood we shared while deboarding ended when our guide became very rude because he was dissatisfied with my tip. Very unprofessional and not too bright, because the other three in our group were each about to tip him individually but decided not to due to his rudeness. Regret having to write a negative review because it seems like a good outfit and the trip was fun, but there's no excuse for shabby treatment of customers.

Took a week to camp the Oregon Coast, amazing trip.
While staying @ Indian Creek we popped over and did the 64 mile JetBoat run w/lunch.
Super fun, our captain was perfect. John was knowledgeable, funny, Plus born/raised in Agness!
How cool is that?!
One tip: The people who picked Cougar Lane for lunch were overall happier than Singing Spring folks.
Fun Trip, do it!

They deliver the mail by boat to Agness, OR. Jerry’s apparently has a contract with the postal service to do it, but they supplement their income by taking passengers on the jet boat they use for deliveries. It’s big enough to accommodate quite a few people. The 32 mile one way trip up to Agness via the Rogue River is a great experience. Our driver/guide, Hugh, was terrific at spotting all kinds of birds, seals, fish, and animals, stopping to point everything out to us. What a guy. Our stay in Agness was a little over an hour, long enough to grab some lunch at one of the two restaurants, both of which have outdoor decks overlooking the river. Fabulous day on the 64 mile round trip. Don’t miss it!
