“Don't rent the hot tub space!!!”
Reviewed July 30, 2012

We were extremely disappointed to find that our spot with the deck and the private hot tub were located right next door to one of the 'cottages' that is obviously occupied by a permanent resident who runs a dog sitting business!! Not only was the place an eyesore and not the least bit romantic to look at, we had to listen to yapping dogs all day long! The deck was nice, but the barbecue didn't work, the patio funiture was covered with mold, and the 'free Wifi' advertised did not reach our site. Since I was needing the WiFi to do some business, it was upsetting that they advertise something they don't really have. We can usually rely on reviews through the RV magazines, Good Sam, etc; but in this case, they didn't capture the place at all. We are not typically complainers, but I feel so ripped off, I wanted to share our experience.

Turtle Rock is one of the best RV resorts we’ve stayed at. It’s located right on Highway 101 with safe access to the beautiful, clean beach by a walkway that goes under the highway.
The friendly and helpful staff checked us in and made sure our campsite was ready for us. They have a staff of retired folks who live at Turtle Rock part-time who make the rounds and maintain the campsites. The resort is just a short drive to town where you can find just about everything you might need.

We reserved an RV spot with a deck and hot tub. There are also beautiful cottages to rent that sleep 4-8 people. Some are even available for purchase. There isn't a pool and the ocean is too cold for swimming.

Turtle Rock has s a fitness center/spa, a camp store, a doggie daycare, large and sparkling clean shower rooms, and an immaculate laundry room. My problem with RV laundry rooms is that there are never enough washers and dryers. This was no exception with only four of each. But a load of wash was only $1.50 and the dryers ran for 50 minutes for just $1.00. One other problem with this one was that it was two flights of outdoor steps up above the shower rooms. It’s somewhat difficult to manage the stairs while carrying an armful of laundry.

The beach is just a short walk away and produces large quantities of beautiful agates that wash up with the tides. Agates are actually washed out of the cliff faces and don’t come from the sea. The best time to find them is in the winter months or after a storm. There is an abundance of driftwood on the beaches, and lots of pretty rocks to collect. So bring your buckets and shovels when you come here. Blackberry bushes line the paths of the RV Park, but they weren’t ripe yet in July. There are no tide pools in this area, as there are further north, at least none that we could find, but we enjoyed watching the pelicans and other seabirds on the beach. We didn’t see any sea lions either. It might just have been the wrong time of year for them. Our grandsons were able to ride their bikes safely throughout the park as the speed limit is 7 mph on camp roads. We brought our two dogs with us and we were happy to see doggie trash bags and disposal containers at every campsite and at other areas in the campgrounds.

If you haven’t visited the beautiful Southern Oregon Coast, I highly recommend staying at Turtle Rock RV Resort with or without an RV. If you want incredible tidepools and sea lions, head north to Cannon Beach and Ecola State Park.

Room Tip: Request a campsite in the middle of the campground so you won't experience highway noise. If yo...

My husband and I have been coming to the Turtle Rock Resort for 5+ years. The owners of the resort are friendly, helpful and always accomodating. We have stayed in nearly all of the cabins they have and enjoy each one. For the past 3 years we have been attending with family and friends, renting multiple cabins at a time for my birthday and we always have an amazing time, no matter the weather on the coast. The cabins are cozy, nicely decorated, each with their own character. They all have room for friends or family to stay and can I imagine they would be perfect for children, with mini lofts which are usually outfitted with tv, dvd player, and a variety of childrens and family movies. We used to go to Brookings for similar accomodations and found this wonderful retreat just up the road at a much lower cost! My husband is an avid fisherman and we walk down to the beach from our cabin to fish for surf perch and look for agates. A perfect vacation spot, with no need to leave for anything. Just bring your groceries and fishing poles and settle in for a lovely stay. It is a short walk to a local "watering hole" where you can enjoy a libation while overlooking hunter's creek. For a young couple, family with children or group of friends, this is a great spot that we highly recommend!

Room Tip: There are larger cabins and smaller cabins, depending on your group size. Look for one with a full...

We were at Turtle Rock for a family reunion; part of our group stayed in their RV's and 4 of us (age 60+) rented a cottage. We were told there was one bedroom and a loft in the cottage with a double bed in the bedroom and twin beds in the loft. Yep, there were twin beds in the loft but unfortunately THE CEILING IN THE LOFT IS ABOUT 3 FEET ABOVE THE FLOOR which meant we could not stand up. It was totally unacceptable for us given our ages and the fact that the staircase up to the loft was about a foot wide and steep. We asked for another cottage and were transferred to one that had a sofa bed in the living room - a miserable night's sleep. My sister and brother-in-law took the bedroom, I took the couch and my husband crawled into the loft. This was for a $200 a night price. The cottages are basically trailers that have been permanently attached to the ground. They are privately owned so the amenities differ in each cottage. If you are an RVer this might be an ok place, but the cottages were not even close to worth the nightly price.

great resort, clean, very helpful staff. The only problem was hard to see sign for resort especially at night. There was no warning you were coming to resort.

The staff was very good to us. The park it's self was a disappointment . The first spot had dog poop we had to clean up before we could hook up. There were supposed to be ocean views. We were moved to space 55 which did have an ocean view if you were on top of the motor home. Did not look as good as it did on the web sight.
