We stopped here at 6 pm the other night. Were greeted pleasantly by a young waitress. The restaurant is in an old school, and the atmosphere is simple but comfortable. My husband ordered the flat iron steak with Dungeness crab on top, in a merlot reduction sauce with truffle oil. His meal also came with three raviolis, asparagus, carrots and a mushroom trio, all atop a bed of wilted spinach. I had the chicken ravioli with spinach, asparagus and carrots. Both entrees were superb. The sauces were delicate but very flavorful without being heavy. The nice part of the experience is that the chef brings out each course and stays awhile at your table to chat about the ingredients, wine (he's the wine list), etc. Very pleasant. We had a nice petite syrah wine. There was a duo playing piano and bass in the corner, and playing very well. We figured our meal was a least $100 since we had two glasses of wine each, but surprisingly it came to just $71. Well worth it. We will be back for sure!

My wife and I were in Gold Beach, Oregon last week for two nights and stayed at our favorite Motel - Ireland's Rustic Lodge. We had a beautiful wood paneled room with a gas fireplace overlooking the beach. After our first night we took a very long walk along the beach and walked back into town on the main drag - Hwy 101. We stopped for lunch at Mangia Buff Cafe after first walking by and smelling the delicious aromas.

The restaurant has an intimate atmosphere and although we were sweaty, we were treated like family. Kevin Buffington, the chef and owner, actually waited on us and we gave him permission to make us anything he wanted for our lunch. We were treated to a wonderful porchetta boulainese (sp) over a home made three cheese pasta. The flavors were tremendous as was the salad with toasted coconut and a light dressing. All this was topped off with a small cup of the Spumone which comes with the meal. My wife had a delicious glass of Viognier and I had a local draft Ale.

The price was a bargain and the food and service was extraordinary. We certainly recommend Mangia Buff for lunch or dinner to anyone traveling through or staying in Gold Beach. Mangia Buff = Eat Naked - Five stars!!

Great little Italian restaurant, was recommended by motel. They didn't refill our water very promptly but other than that food was very good. The art on display in the rest of the community center was a fun find too.

Oh my gosh!!!! Was on vacation and staying one night in Gold Beach. Arrived late in the evening the day after Christmas! Didn't expect anything to be open so soon after a holiday. Found this place on a google search. Decided to try it. Didn't seem open as not cars were around. We got there at 630. It was closing at 7. Glad we checked it out! The Chef met us as we walked in and asked us what we were in the mood for. Sea food and pasta! He made us the BEST EVER shrimp, clam and muscle linguine dish we have ever tasted! It wasn't even on the menu! The garlic bread and salad we are very tasty as well! The Chef, Kevin, owns the place and runs it with some of his adult children. If you get a chance, it's a MUST! Wish we had this place in our home town!
