Coquille St. Jacques was a wonderful surprise as was the atmosphere and exemplary service. This is not run-of-the-mill but neither do you have to sell your first born to afford a nice meal. I also recommend the fish & chips.

The staff at the hotel we were staying at recommended this place to us. We found it to be a bit expensive but the food was excellent as well as the presentation and the service was outstanding! Worth the money for a special night out.

Even though we hadn't had breakfast and were, sort of, wanting some, it was lunch time when we arrived in Gold Beach, so we stopped at the Chowder House. Both of us had the large bowl of chowder and it was truly perfect! Hot, thick, full of clams and big hunks of potato and spiced perfectly so it complimented but didn't overpower the taste of the clams. A bowl of chowder will run you $7 and it's served with a package of oyster crackers (would have been better with a kaiser roll), so by my estimation it seemed a little high, but the quality made it reasonable.

The server was pleasant and the chowder was really good. I ordered the rib eye medium rare, the steak was a little overcooked and not well trimmed and the fries that were served with the steak had an not very tasty seasoning on them. The prices were a little high but not horribly so. I would go back, but only for the chowder.

Attentive service, fireplace, cocktails, best chowder EVER. Great ribeye, within walking distance of the Gold Beach Inn too.
