“Nice for the Price!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2014

The faux Fireplace screams kitsch..... and they have one, right in the lobby. ;-)

Actually, this was a nice little motel on the Ocean. The Ocean is a slight hike over some dunes but it can be seen from every room. Sunset was very nice.

Gold Beach is halfway between nowhere and somewhere. The Ocean views along the coast is the largest attraction next to the Rogue River.

The rooms were clean and well kept. Room Amenities modern and functional. Fridge and Microwave. Fridge actually worked and was cold on arrival, Bathroom clean and water came out hot for shower.

Grounds were well kept and building appeared well maintained.

Beds were comfortable. Small outside porch (Lani) in every room.

Front desk person was helpful and cheerful.

Indoor Pool is a nice touch. It looks well kept and clean, although it was reported to be pretty cold. Hot Tub appeared to be working and good order.

As you can tell..... this is just a checklist of the basics. Gold Beach resort passes all my check points as being a decent Ocean Side Motel. It's not grand, it's juts a nice clean place to spend the night.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about the Gold Beach Resort. We are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay here. Thank you for the compliments about our hotel property and the rooms. We appreciate it very much. We do have a fire place in our lobby. You are correct that it is not a wood burning fireplace, but is electric and does put off heat. Our pool is heated to 80 degrees. It can feel colder depending on your body temperature, but the staff is always willing to check to make sure the pool is at 80. You took a beautiful picture of the sunset. It is so golden. How perfect for the town of Gold Beach. Thank you for uploading it. We hope to see you again soon!

This was the second time we stayed there and have had friends to stay there as well. But when I made the reservations I was told there was only 2 rooms for pets. I have a service dog and asked for a certain room. I was told I could not have it, although it was rented to another pet owner. I walked down the hall and found that every room had a pet as they barked when I passed. I asked the desk person about it and she was very rude and told me there were not dogs in those rooms. I told her to go and walk down the hall and see for herself. A very rude remark was made saying they must have made the reservations through Amazon. I told her I will IF I EVER STAY THERE AGAIN make my reservations through amazon so I get the room I wish. That made her even more rude. She was a young blonde on the morning breakfast shift.

Room Tip: Ask for the top floor to keep from having hearing every noise from above you. If you have a pet don...

Overall hotel was an average hotel. Nothing Special. The price they charged us was $20 higher because our kids were over 13. But was not offered roll away bed or anything, just an extra $20, this did not start the experience off well. Should have drove to Bandon, just an extra hour drive our so North, where there are far more choices to stay at, many offering no charge for kids. Or stayed south in Crescent City.
Breakfast was decent, but could have had it set up differently to help the LONG lines.
Mattresses were way to soft and need replaced.

Thank you for writing a review about us on TripAdvisor. Many hotels have an additional rate for any one over the age of 13. The good thing about that is that anyone 13 and older can stay in the pool for an extra hour for adult swim time. Most guests would request a roll-away if needed in the room. We didn't offer the roll-away because it is an additional charge for it and we did not want to make you feel pressured into spending more money. We are sorry that this caused your stay to start off unwell. We recently put new mattresses in our rooms which are Serta Pillow-Top Mattresses. The harder beds we had before did not receive good reviews so we upgraded our beds to softer mattresses. We will be renovating our breakfast room later this year to create more space to avoid long lines. We hope you will give us another chance and stay with us again.

The rooms were pretty clean some drawers and outside of cupboards could have been cleaned better. It was pretty cozy and had a nice view, a bit far to the pool and not much water pressure. I've stayed in the other rooms and loved the water pressure and cleanliness

We drove to CA to hike the Redwoods. We drove up 101 to get home, stopping at Gold Beach Resort for two nights. We called ahead to make sure it was okay to bring our Shihtzu. It was an extra $15, but good thing I called. Only some rooms allowed pets. Our room had two queen beds and a great balcony overlooking the ocean. The room was huge with three chairs, very nice carpet and very clean. The room had a refrigerator and a microwave. The conference center had several machines to work out, but they weren't the best. Nice indoor pool and even a guest laundry room. Free washer and $1.00 for the dryer. The paths to the ocean had a nice grassy area. The included breakfast had waffles, eggs, biscuits and gravy, fruits and cereals. I thought the hotel was a lot nicer than a 2 star. The weather was awful- constant rain. I'd stay again, but next time I want a beach over spring break, I think I'll go back to Mexico for more sunshine. I thought this was a great price for our room.

Room Tip: The second or third floor for a better view.

We chose this hotel because of the heated pool and hot tub. After a late dinner, we changed clothes to go to the hot tub. A sign with writing larger than your hand on the building exterior at the door said the hours: am sometime - 10pm (I don't recall the morning time). We got to the pool at 9:20--which is plenty of time for us to enjoy before they close. The hot tub was filled with suds and, when I asked what was wrong, the evening manager said that the pool closes at 9:30. I said no, there's a sign saying 10pm. She said it was changed to 9:30 and that is printed on the paper that wraps up the card keys. I wear my glasses for reading, but not walking around---I could not read this paper, nor was I told to. The reason the pool closes at 9:30 is so the hot tub can run its cleaning cycle before the front desk staff leaves for the night at 10. But 10 for the hot tub is a much more sensible closing time. We chose this resort because it had that feature, and were disappointed. A hotel exists for the convenience of the guests (within reason) and not that the guests should be corralled because the staff want to go home. That said, the room was nice, quite large, and the staff at check-in was helpful, recommending dinner locations, etc.

Room Tip: Book the second or third floor. All rooms are ocean view. The ground floor feels like a basement.

Thank you for writing a review about us on TripAdvisor. The pool is open from 9 am to 9:30 pm during the "slow season" during the "peak season" the pool is open from 9 am to 11 pm. There is adult swim time an hour prior to closing. We did remove the sign that had the incorrect time. The sign was hidden behind a bush and we did not notice it when we changed the signs out. The sign hadn't been brought up to us before so we did not know of it still hanging up. We are sorry for the inconvenience this caused. For the guests convenience we have the "Hours of Operation" printed on the back of the key slip with the correct hours. The pool room closes thirty minutes before the front office closes so that we can clean the pool/spa and also the rest rooms before locking up. We did offer the guest to come in at 8 am and use the pool earlier then scheduled opening time. We are sorry about the suds in the Jacuzzi. The suds form from hairspray, shampoos/conditioners, body lotions etc. which is why we ask that guests shower before using the pool/spa. It is an easy fix, so thank you for letting the staff know about it. We are sorry that you didn't get to spend as much time in the pool as you had hoped to. We hope you'll be back to stay and enjoy it another time. Thank you for staying with us.

Room was clean and spacious. The ease of access was perfect for a handicap need, and the ocean view (on ground floor in front with a third story view in back) was fabulous. And close enough to enjoy the surf.

Thank you
