Ireland's Rustic Lodges
Ranked #3 of 8 Hotels in Gold Beach

The rooms here are roomy and comfortable. Our room was on the second level. It had a balcony & was located on the beach. Walking on the beach we were treated to a small pod of whales that seemed to be feeding a short distance out from the beach. The sea breeze is cool & the surf sounds soothing. Very nice place to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a second floor room. All rooms here have a beachfront view. Open the balcony door & enjo...

On the plus side, you can almost see the beach from some rooms and the 3 little hot tubs shared with the hotel next door are within walking distance. Very weak pluses. On the minus side, room curtains shut out 10% of the outside light. The porch light which renters don't control lit up the entire room through the curtain so morning light? Yeah, you'll be up early. The double beds come with two scrawny, flat, foam pillows. I asked for more and was told none were available because the sister property next door had claimed them all. The room couch and recliner are 40+ years old. Way too many good places on the Oregon coast to waste a night at this place.

The locale of the lodges is stunning. 50 yards from the Ocean, unobstructed views & rustic cabin style. They need to upgrade their beds, soap, have shampoo at least in the rooms and upgrade their wifi. Free wifi is only any good when you can get online!
There is however an excellent breakfast albeit it finishes for the lodges at 9.00am. & 9.30am in the adjoining hotel. We are on vacation for goodness sake, late breakfast is one of the pleasures.
However the first thing that needs doing is replacing the bathroom fans!! They are the noisiest fans I have ever heard!! Frankly we stopped using ours but you can hear everyone else's!!
The second thing they need to do is add some lighting in the lodges. Its pitch dark!!
The locals think highly of this place but it needs these tweaks plus a tidy up around the place. It looks untidy so it is untidy.

Room Tip: The view from the upper story rooms is better.

We spent two nights in one of the cottages and I would not return. The cottages are supposed to be the best of the accommodations they have and, if that is the case, I would hate to see the rest of the rooms. Our cabin was so dark it was actually depressing! The lighting was terrible and the walls and ceiling were all paneled in dark wood. The carpet was dark brown shag and I just could not get past wondering how dirty it was.

The bathroom was old and the shower was small. Our cabin had a microwave and small frig and a table and chairs for two people. We also had two recliners which face a flat screen TV.

The breakfast, which is included in the price, is really bleak. Toast, cold cereal, instant oatmeal and toaster pancakes and waffles on paper plates with plastic cutlery. There was also a limited amount of fresh fruit. The breakfast room was too small for the numbers of people there so folks would end up taking their food back to their rooms to eat.

Check in took a very long time and the people at the front desk seemed to be bit disorganized. Since everything is paid when you check in, you just leave your key in a key drop when you leave. The location is good and they have wonderful access to the beach. Many of the rooms in the motel type accommodations face the water and had great views of the sunsets.

Room Tip: Try to reserve a room facing the water.

If you are looking for a sterile chain motel room, this is not the place for you, but if you art looking for an amazing location to spend time and make memories with friends and family do stay. I loved the charming cabins and the beautiful grounds, but the best of all is the private beachfront location. We requested an ocean view and we're not disappointed. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: No swimming pool, but they have 3 hot tubs and a large deck area with amazing sunsets.

Ireland's has been in Gold Beach for decades and has always been thought of well by the locals. After leaving Gold Beach we have returned and stayed at Ireland's several time. Yes, it's old, but the location on the beach, the cabins and the grounds give it a special ambiance. Maybe, it's not for everyone, but it is nice for us.

Room Tip: Ask for a cabin with an ocean view.

We landed at GB airport, walked into town for a meal and a room. Asked several locals and Irelands was one of those recommended. We looked at the grounds and were pleased a room was available. Sure it's an older place but the carpet and room was clean and it didn't smell musty like some older hotels and didn't smell like cleaning fluids like some. It was the aroma of a wood fire, which we like as we burn 4 cords in a Colorado winter. Staff was very friendly, bed was comfortable, breakfast was fine, and the grounds well maintained. I don't know how some folks find so much to whine about. On checkout, the staff promptly drove us to the airport. We both loved the ambiance and will definitely stay there again if in GB and will recommend it to family.
