“Definitely will stay there again- one of the most relaxing stays with incredibly friendly and accomodating staff”
Reviewed July 15, 2010

Every staff member was friendly, helpful and willing to go the extra mile. The mellow lobby music, fresh flowers in the lobby and breakfast room, cleanliness, hot breakfast, spa water/coffee/teas, lobby snacks added to the feeling of being catered to - more so than in many more expensive hotels. It truly felt like a home away from home, but without any work. We will most definitely stay there again!

First the good: we liked the place and location. We slept well. It was quiet. The food for breakfast was good. I'd recommend it to others.
Now for the glaring annoyances: The lock for the window was broken. It fell off in my hand. And the fan cover in the bathroom was literally hanging by a (screw) thread! It was already detached from one screw, and was hanging and swinging precariously, barely hanging onto the end of the other screw! I was afraid it could fall on our heads at any moment.
At breakfast we were the only ones. FOX "News" was blaring from the TV. I dared pick up the remote and turn off the sound. Ahhh blessed silence...what's wrong with silence at 6am???! Within four minutes what appeared to be the proprietor turned it back up, perhaps even louder than before (was that my punishment?)! I hate any TV on while eating, but especially don't wish to hear during my vacation when I'm a paying customer from the official propaganda organ of the Tea Party!

Having stayed in hotels when traveling and vacationing for fifty plus years, we generally do not look foreword to hotel living. This year was a delightful exception. GARIBALDI HOUSE!!The name defines the experience and the experience confirms the name. We stayed at Garibaldi House for one week while on vacation, June 2010. It was fantastic. It is called Garibaldi HOUSE, and it is truly like staying as a special guest at a house/home, not a commercial enterprise! Hospitality, quality, cleanliness, and friendliness were all five star plus. The indoor swimming pool was meticulously cared for. All the staff were great, from the housekeeping staff ( whose service was excellent in quality and care ) to the office staff, who were always very pleasant and helpful ( suggesting restaurants, as well as points of interest. In fact the owners were on the premises overseeing the quality and care! There were hors d'oeuvres offered each evening in the lobby as well as salt water taffy and popcorn. The breakfast served every morning was excellent in quality and taste. There were specially prepared and seasoned scrambled eggs , fried potatoes, hard boiled eggs, waffles, cereals, fruit, and yogurt to choose from, along with truly excellent coffee, hot chocolate, juice. All in all we had a great week on the Oregon coast, thanks in a large part to our accommodations at Garibaldi House,

I was raised on the coast near Garibaldi and never thought I would ever come back and stay in Garibaldi! I was pleasantly surprised! The Garibaldi House is a fabulous place to stay. The staff is so friendly and accomodating! We felt very pampered. We had a wonderful time fishing, sightseeing, and trying new restaurants!

We expected a small town hotel, instead this was top notch. Well appointed and welcoming with excellent staff who were very attentive to our needs. The Garibaldi House Inn is a great value for the money. They provided many "goodies" available in the lobby - cheese & crackers, cookies, saltwater taffy, popcorn and coffee. Plus a complete breakfast in the dining room across from the pool and spa.

Upon return from our explorations, the iced cucumber water was a refreshing treat. We greatly appreciated the up front, centrally located elevator as we traveled with a disabled family member. Our 3rd floor rooms in the back were quiet with views of the hillside and the charming town of Garibaldi.

We would recommend Fishermen's Korner Restaurant at the end of the Garibaldi Wharf, within walking distance. Riding the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad steam engine train from Garibaldi to Rockaway Beach and back was a lot of fun, and we had a great lunch at the Dos Rocas Mexican Restaurant.

Beware the cameras do not work..!!! so if your thinking safe and secure ...think again. it would have been nice if there was some form of disclosure that the cameras in this facility did not work.. this one simple piece of knowledge would have changed my trip..!! the bar across the street and the drunks arguing in the middle of the night was less than appreciated.

This reviewer was understandably upset when his truck was broken into sometime during the night of the 4th of July, although the manner in which he evidenced his displeasure did cause discomfort for other guests. It was a new experience for us as we have never had a vehicle broken into at our hotel before. Our parking lots are well lit and we are located on a main highway in a small coastal town. I guess no location is exempt from some crime in today's society, although another guest claims to have unintentionally left his car unlocked with the keys in it that same night and it was not disturbed.

I have personally had my vehicle broken into when parked at a motel when I was traveling out of state. Although I was upset, my anger was at myself for leaving valuable items in plain sight in a vehicle in an open parking lot. It never occurred to me to try to blame the establishment. Also, I maintained insurance that covered my loss. Apparently that was not the case here.

While I feel very badly that it happened, I do disagree that it evidences a safety issue, or that our facility creates a false sense of security. The breach took place in an open parking lot. Access to the inside of the hotel other than the front door is by room key card only. All rooms have dead bolts and swing type latch locks. While we will reevaluate the adequacy of our security camera system, very few hotel/motel facilities in small Oregon coast towns utilize security cameras at all, especially in their parking lots. Cameras do not stop burglary or vandalism, but their presence does act as a deterrent. And again, this is the first event of this type we have experienced. Hopefully it will be an isolated one.

I also feel badly that the reviewer was disturbed by voices of apparently intoxicated individuals on or across the street celebrating the fourth of July. Unfortunately, most people who travel to resort locations on the fourth of July do so with the intention of celebrating. It creates a difficult challenge for law enforcement and inn keepers alike. We were relieved that everything remained peaceful and quiet inside the hotel.

We certainly got more than we expected at this gem of a hotel. It had more of a "bed and breakfast" feel. The rooms were spacious and immaculately clean. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. It will now be the only place we stay when traveling to the coast. I will highly recommend it to others.,...
