“Great Place For Families”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2013

My wife and I went to The Driftwood Inn with our daughter and two year-old grandson, and had a great time. When the weather permitted, Grandson loved walking (and running) on the flat, sandy beach. He had fun beachcombing, although we couldn't always tell why he was particularly interested in something he found. He had fun, so we had fun.

Another very nice feature is the pool. When the weather was too harsh for beach time, this was a very acceptable alternative. There is a baby pool-- maximum depth of 18 inches. Perfect for the little guy. He spent most of his time in this pool and didn't want to leave.

There is also a pool with a depth of 5 feet, which is great for the 8-12 year-olds. And, of course, a hot tub for everyone.

There was another family with elementary school aged children there, and they seemed to be having as much fun as we were.

A final thought: the restaurant is convenient, reasonable, kid-friendly, and serves good food!

After spending last in Florence, we decided to look for another hotel. We are here for a geocaching event, which took place at this hotel. Geocaches were offered a large discount, one that we could not pass up. For $79 dollars we ended up with a fabulous room. We had an awesome ocean view, large room with all the amenities. Check this place out. You won't be disappointed. Clean and quiet, spacious and on the beach.

we had a nice new remodeled room on the forth floor, don't try to eat on the patio, we were attacked by seagulls ! the neighbors coughed and up-chucked all night with a loud croupy cough. we were awakened every hour !!! it sounded like they were in our bathroom! paper thin walls. Yuk so gross ! when we complained there was nothing they would do ! oh sorry ! :( then the maid knocked on the door to clean two hours before our check-out time !!!! not going back ! i will pass this on !

This hotel is right on the beach, that's about all the good I know. It is old, updates have been made in some areas, but needs much soundproofing. The bed was old and very lumpy. The only way we could get a king bed with a view of the water was to get a room with a kitchen. We paid $170 for an uncomfortable, old bed. We always remove bedspreads, but the blanket was necessary, and not particularly clean. The room was otherwise clean, just old. This was definitely a disappointing place to stay. The food in the restaurant was good, however!

This is a find and what a value! This hotel is right on the beach in Florence, OR; every room has a view of the ocean. One of only 3 or 4 hotel right on the beach between the California boarder and Lincoln City, OR. Accommodations are typical and amenities are not the fanciest, but it is about the view! The serenity of hearing the waves crash every night to lull you to sleep. It is about the morning mist, the surf, sand and seagulls singing. The hotel offers everything you need, even an indoor pool for the kids to swim in. The hotel has been under renovation this past year, so I expect some nice upgrades. The attached restaurant is fantastic and the bar tender makes amazing cocktails. A standard queen room w/ view, coffee make and mini-fridge - $110.00 – that’s a bargain! Highly recommend a stay; great helpful staff. Those looking for something elegant and fancy, go stay at the Ritz Carlton in San Francisco as this won’t be your cup of tea.

Room Tip: Every room has a great view!

We were passing thru Florence, OR on a road tripand stumbled upon Driftwood Shores. Right on the beach!! The only hotel we could find on the beach. The outside was under going remodeling, but the room had just been remodeled and we were the 1st guests in it. We also slept with the sliding door part was open and could hear the sound of the waves crashing on the beach. Excellent place to view the sunsets. Nice indoor pool with hot tub and a small water feature for the kids. About 3 miles from Old Town which has many restaurants to choose from. Great area for fresh seafood. The staff was friendly & helpful.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 3rd floor. I'd say to stay on the 3rd or 4th floor for the best view.

I always enjoy staying here. The service has always been good and the rooms are very inviting. The huge plus is the ocean view and although it is more expensive than other hotels in the area it's worth it to listen to the ocean as you drift off to sleep. The restaurant has decent food but for the price I've chosen to always go into town to eat.
