“Nice location, great chowder, so-so experience”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

On a girls weekend in Florence, we headed to old town to have lunch...chowder at Mo's. A nice gal was standing outside of ICM passing out samples of their chowder. It was very good, but we told her we were headed to Mo's. She was so pleasant and commented that maybe next time we would give them a try. We were so impressed and the chowder was good, so we decided to go in. The restaurant is very big with inside and outside seating. They also advertise being pet friendly on the patio which we liked.

We started with a calamari appetizer. Nice light batter, but absolutely NO flavor. It didn't even taste like there was salt or pepper added. When asked how we liked it we did share our opinion with the waitress to give them suggestion for improvement. For lunch all three of us ordered the chowder and salad with focaccia bread. As mentioned the chowder was very good. Nice , thick and creamy and loaded with clams. The salad was a nice mix of greens, very fresh but the one downfall was dressings from a bottle. You could tell because there was a sharp vinegar taste to the ranch. My dining companions each ordered shrimp and crab respectively to their salad. They noted they could do that for a bit extra. When the bill came, the shrimp upcharge was $4.00 but we noticed the crab was charged twice, once for $4.00 and once for $3.00. When questioned the waitress mentioned that she had charged the $4.00 but her manager said it wasn't enough and was told to charge an additional $3.00. We thought that was a bit much since the lunch itself was only $10.00 for the soup and salad. Ad keeping in mind that we were not happy with the appetizer and shared when asked, the least they could have done is made the call to only charge her the $4.00 for her small amount of crab added to the salad. Given the entire experience, I don't know that we would go back. If we did, it would definitely only be for the chowder.

“Great Clam Chowder”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

We were traveling the Oregon Coast and on a mission to find the best clam chowder. Their's was very good, lots of tender clams and not filled with potatoes. Would definitely return for more!

“An okay restaurant”
Reviewed August 9, 2013

Location is nice with views of the water and outside seating. Nothing fancy but comfortable. We thought the chowder was very good, contrary to other reports. The Halibut with garlic mashed potatoes was very good. The Mahi Mahi was somewhat tough and dry. Wine glasses were full when served so that was good. Mo's next door is a chain so would rather patronize ICM.

“Great view but the chowder was tasteless”
Reviewed August 7, 2013 via mobile

Beautiful river front seating dog friendly we had chowder here 3 years ago and it was terrific. Stopped in just for that and it was awful. Owner also had issues with one of the waitstaff and made her cry. I wish I had checked the reviews before returning to this place

“Outdoor Dog-Friendly Seating, On the River, Terrible Food”
Reviewed August 6, 2013 via mobile

Love the outdoor seating to accommodate my dog. Beautiful right-on-the river view!! Was a bit cold and windy. Food was TERRIBLE! So many good restaurants in town, this was a disappointment.
