“Honeyman State Park Yurt”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

We stayed two nights in Yurt #28 at Jessie M. Honeyman State Park. The yurt was great! It has a heater, 4 or so electrical outlets, windows and a lockable door. The bunk bed had a double on the bottom, twin on top. The futon made into a double bed. There was a table, coffee table and 3 wooden chairs. The covered porch area would be nice if it rained and there was a fire pit and two picnic tables. The park is close to the sand dunes and two lakes. It was a great experience and the cost was well worth it. The hard part is reserving one. It is my understanding that you can reserve them 9 months in advance and you need to do that to get the good (and probably even the not-so-good) dates. Yurt #28 was 100 feet from bathrooms with showers. We reserved them at:

“Camping and recreation in one”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

Stayed in yurt for three nights with kids. We all had a great time camping (hard to call it camping when you have a bed, heat, electricity and a door!).
Cleawox lake was fun for paddle boating and the dunes.
We were happy we had bikes to ride around the park.
The five dollar day use fee is waved if you are camping.

“Great Stop in the Oregon Dunes”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

We camped at Jessie M Honeyman from 8-13 through 8-14-2012 as a family of four. We arrived a bit early for check in so we went over to the Cleawox Lake day use park. This was a fabulous place for people with younger children. There is a roped off area for people to swim in, bathrooms, snack place, nice little beach. There is a dock you can swim out to. You can also rent paddle boats or kayaks. We stayed a few hours swimming and enjoying the water.
Check in for the camping is at 4pm. What a nightmare. Yes this is one of Oregon's largest parks. But even with two lines/lanes open the traffic for check in was backed up forever. We waited so long it was ridiculous. People were going in and out of the two lines trying to sneak up in front of other people as well which was annoying. And one lady nearly backed up into us. Check in was so slow going even with our advanced reservations. But the rangers were kind and helpful at least.
We had spot B72 which actually was really super great. Big wooded spot, lots of room, with a wooded trail running behind it. Decent table and fire pit, enough privacy we didn't feel exposed. The bathrooms were right across the way down a little trail. We were glad not to have the sites directly next to the bathrooms. I'd avoid that if possible. The showers were decent, water scalding hot in one of the stalls. Not coin operated so that's always nice. They were decently clean, though one of the mirrors in the women's room is smashed fairly badly. We found this site to be quiet and peaceful. Went on a ranger lead nature walk at 7pm to the sand dunes which was informative and great. There's lots of programs, playground, activities for families to do at this campgrounds. The sand dunes were really great, a definite must see. They have extensive recycling and garbage bins for when you leave which was also nice.
I'd probably stay here again for longer and fully explore more of the park facilities, and the other lake which we didn't have time for. There were lots of trails for further exploration as well. It's a nice family place to visit if you're in the area, especially if you want to cool off with a swim in the lake on a hot day.
