“Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2012

Stayed at the Bed and Breakfast, which is in the old Caretakers House, a few years ago and it was awesome. All the antique furniture, stories of the lives of the men who manned the light, ghost stories (we didn't see one though). The Food was excellent. Everything was made or grown in Oregon and gourmet. Great time to meet people from all over the world for a meal. Loved it! Want to do it again someday....

“One of our favorite places!!!”

It has beautifully rugged coastlines and the forests only add to its beauty. It is a favorite picnicking place of ours. You have to see it to appreciate it.

“World class setting, lodging and dining experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2012

How many places in America can you stay in an historic lighthouse keeper's actual house in a private setting on a cliff above the Pacific? Being able to watch the lights of the lighthouse play against the night sky from your window? Or, bettery yet, having the unique opportunity to take a short night time walk up to the light house to see its light out on the ocean?

We love that the Heceta Head Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast is relatively small with six well-appointed rooms, some with in room bathrooms. Our favorite is the Mariner Room on the front of the house with views of the bay below and we like to go in January when it can be very stormy. However, in nice weather, sitting out on the huge front porch overlooking the ocean, or taking a hike on nearby paths is a treat.

Speaking of treats, that would describe the 15 course breakfast served in the formal dining room each morning. While that sounds "over the top", only the fresh ingredients and preparation are. Each course is a "tasting" size, so by the end of the meal, you have sampled a wide range of local fruits, eggs and breakfast meats without feeling too full. All are beautifully presented fresh out of the kitchen, one by one.
And because guests have asked for years how their signature entrees are prepared, their highly rated Heceta Head Bed and Breakfast cook book is sold there and well worth the purchase.

Finally, tours of the lighthouse are available and each morning after breakfast the innkeepers open up a lovely little gift shop near the light house full of unusual and high quality items to take home.

This is one of the most extraordinary destinations in America, not to be missed!

“A piece of history - beautiful setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2012

OK - it's fun to do a lighthouse tour of the Oregon coast - and this is one of them. IN addition to the lighthouse there are several historical buildings up on the bluff that are interesting if they aren't having a party or something. The beach there is very cool.

A very nice place to stop on the Oregon Coast where you can climb the spiral staircase up to the actual light. Very cool
