Tried this on a fluke. Its located by one of the few places providing easy access to the beach and saw the restaurant. Had eaten at the highly touted Waterfront Depot the evening before and thought this would be a good choice for lunch after a booked excursion with Sandland Adventures. It was a fantastic choice. Youre on the beach! Ordered the beef dip and its probably the best Ive ever had. The bread was wonderful, prime rib of beef exquisitely flavored, tender, lean, sliced thin and cabernet au jus to kill for. Did I mention the fries? Homemade, thin, perfectly fried so not greasy and you cant get enough of their flavor! Couple this with awesome views and good service for a winning combo. Liked it so much went back for breakfast next morning, even though breakfast was included in our accommodations. The food was again excellent; however, there should be more corned beef in the hash! I did notice that for the evening service there are table cloths. A criticism would be the temp in inside is too cold. This restaurant is connected to the Driftwood Shores Inn.

This is an excellent and beautiful venue, with excellent servers, and really special food! Should be 5 stars! However, we made a reservation for 7pm - turned out to be "preseating" for submitting an order at 8pm, food delivered at 9. Dinner not concluded until 10:30 pm, 3 1/2 hours after reservation. Repeated once more with the same result. Very odd.

A few years ago they had a good chef and waitstaff and then the chef got a better offer. New chef tried to fix what he believed was wrong and destroyed the place. He was replaced with another who changed it again and we stopped going there. Now about 3 years later we tried it again. New chef is doing a good job. Food is tasty and well presented. Waitstaff is better (but not great) and view is still best in Florence. Clam chowder is Mid-Atlantic style (thicker than New England and thinner than Carolinas and Georgia). Well presented and Breakfasts are good and all is reasonably priced. My only complaint is the room was about 60 degrees with the air conditioner on. We,and other tables, complained and the waiter went looking for a key to the thermostat which was finally located as we waited for our bill. We will go back but also take a coat with us and hope we can leave it in the car

First off, I must provide a recommendation to the Surfside Restuarant management - please change out your picture shown here in your listing. The burnt english muffin with lettuce and crab salad definitely isn't very attractive, and doens't make me want to rush right over for lunch.

I ate here a couple of times during our recent stay, and it was definitely fine - nothing spectacular, but it was a good value for the money. Nothing spectacular, but given the beautiful view, and the close proximity to my hotel room, it was a nice option for lunch and dinner. Service was good - no complaints.
