“A Perfect Welcome...”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

After a less than satisfactory experience at the BW Tacoma Dome (see review separately), we were tickled to receive the perfect innkeeper's welcome at the Pier Point Inn across the river from old town Florence. Our room was quiet, clean, well-appointed, and offered river views. The dining recommendations were spot-on, and the next morning's continental breakfast with custom omelettes was excellent. Old town Florence itself is charming, with some interesting shops, very good restaurants, and is well worth a few hours' exploration,

2 people I want to give a great review for.
Carrie, the front desk girl, she is a doll and very sweet and helpful to work with.
All front desk people should be as nice and friendly as her, especially when you've had a long day/week and you want to be greeted by a friendly face and personality, it rubs off!
Troy, the morning omlet chef! He is fast and accomodates my food request and he is friendly also. I am usually in and out within 15 minutes including him making the omlet.
This is also a nice hotel to stay at. I am here for a few weeks while on work training.
I love the Bath & Body works bathroom eminities!

Room Tip: The top floor is the best view, even though you have to take the stairs!

Dear BossKing:

Thank you so much for complimenting our employees on TripAdvisor. We are so fortunate to have a staff that actually likes to come to work and interact with our guests. This makes such a difference to our guests who can feel that they are truly welcomed and enjoyed. Also, I’m glad you like the Bath & Body amenities as we just starting using those and it’s nice to know that a guest noticed and appreciated them. Thanks again for your awesome review and we look forward to serving you again in the future.

My wife and I stayed at this Best Western and really enjoyed our visit. The hotel overlooks the Siuslaw river and is just across the river from Old DownTown Florence. We enjoyed the night view of the town lights and easy access to restraunts, shopping and the beach.

I liked the hotel's style and design, the waterfall outside the front is a very nice touch and the indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna were great for getting in some winter exercise and relaxation.

Monica at the front desk was quite pleasant and in the morning Troy made delicious omlets for our breakfast. We ate breakfast in the dining room with a lovely view of the river. The hotel is working on putting in it's own restraunt which will be a nice addition to an already great place to stay.

The only changes I would make is that in our room the curtains opened on the left, giving us mostly a view of the dining room side of the building and some of the river while in the bed, whereas if the curtains opened from the right we could have had a clear view of the town's night lights from the bed with privacy from being seen from the corner tables in dining room below. The other thing I encountered is that the rooms with balconys are great with the exception that you can't turn off the light on the balcony so it shines into the room if you open the drapes to view the town lights across the river at night.

Room Tip: Rooms midways down from the entrance will have a better overall view of the town's night lights.

Loved this place, litlle oasis off the highway overlooking the river. Great continental breakfast with made to order omelets by a very hard working chef.
We had just checked into our room and had time to look around and the receptionist phoned to make sure we were happy with the room.

We chose this hotel over Driftwood Shores for our travels with 3 sons, and were not disappointed. Upon check-in, the sweet gal on duty went out of her way to show my husband several rooms that might suit our family. We ended up in the suite right next to the front desk. It didn't have a view, but that was fine because the price was fair and the room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed. Our queen sized bed was comfortable, and the two flat screen tvs (one in the bedroom, one in the main room) made things much easier for our family. The 3 boys happily slept in the pull-out bed in the main room. Breakfast was very nice. We were able to choose between cereals, breads, donuts, muffins, sausage, waffles, fresh strawberries, biscuits and gravy, breakfast potatoes, yogurt, and the best part: an omelet bar. The staff making the omelets were extremely kind and engaging. Finally, we returned to head to the pool. We were disappointed to find that it was only open 10am-10pm, and it was around 9am. Sadly the boys trudged back to our room, but before we got to the room we ran into a very nice man named Rich who said "Follow Me!" and let the boys and dad in for some much needed playtime. The door is on a timer (which should be changed, in my opinion, to 8 or 9am as checkout is 11), but he said they usually prop the door open so people can enjoy the facilities. I am very impressed by the number of staff members who clearly go out of their way to provide excellent customer service. I've never written a review before, but I check them myself and I felt that this experience was worth celebrating. Way to go Pier Point - you retain the hometown values while providing an excellent facility as well. Worth the money in every regard!

Wow! Thank you so much for this awesome review. I love to read about guests having great experiences at our hotel. Rich is a great guy and it really makes his day to see his name mentioned on TripAdvisor, as it’s not often that one our maintenance crew has a chance to really interact with the guests. I’m so glad that he was able to accommodate you and the kids. I’m also pleased to hear that you enjoyed the room and the breakfast. Again, thank you for such a detailed review. We really appreciate you sharing your experience with other travelers and we will discuss pool hours at our next management meeting. Thank you!

The quality of the room accomodations was just fine, and the complimentary breakfast inluded an omelete station. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bed, bedding, cleanliness, internet speed was all good, with a nice river view. There is no elevator. It looked to me that only 4-5 rooms did not have at least one stair and often many more to get to the room. The fitness/pool area is down 2 flights of stairs and the steps are shallow. There are stairs into the lobby. A ramp is available nearby but does not access the main doors. Because of the comfort and view I would stay here again, but because of my personal needs I would have to have a confirmation that a room with no stairs is guaranteed.

Dear gophergulch:

Thank you very much for your thoughtful review of our hotel. I wanted to let you know that as the owner of the hotel I read these reviews daily and it’s important to me to read what guests like and don’t like. I understand your concern regarding all the stairs and unfortunately you are correct in this is the way our hotel was originally built but I also want you to know that I am working with an architect currently to see what we can do to add an elevator to access the majority of our guest rooms. Thank you for noting that you enjoyed the breakfast, the helpful staff, Internet speed and cleanliness of the hotel. Please check back with us on your next trip to Florence and hopefully by then we will have an elevator accessing most of our rooms. Thank you!

On the banks of the Suislaw River the setting is just gorgeous. Look across the river to see old town Florence. Very quite lower room, somewhat circuitous route to get to the room. Very big, comfortable, small bath area but sink was separate. Very clean. Great continental breakfast and omelets of your choice. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: The lower rooms are super quite.
