This inn was an unexpected surprise. You can't beat the location if you're visiting the University of Oregon campus. The rooms are charming and well-equipped with coffee, robes, wine bucket, fantastic bedding, and nice bathroom amenities. Our room overlooked the front entrance and it was really quite beautiful looking at the flowering wisteria. Breakfast is amazing--it's not your typical freebie hotel breakfast, this is actually a very good gourmet breakfast. Loved staying here!

Love the B&B! The customer service was absolutely fabulous! The young lady at the counter was friendly, informative and willing to go the extra mile for her guests! I enjoyed the complimentary tea/coffee and the beautifully decorated rooms.

We went to the restaurant for dinner. The food was incredible. We enjoyed the pasta, pizza, and fresh salad. The B&B gave us a Free Dessert coupon, which hit the spot! Everything at the restaurant was great but the service. The service was a little snobby. We did not have reservations for a 5:00 PM dinner and were greeted with an unpleasant smirk because of this. Fast forward to dinner, and the same unwanted service continued. On the flip side, we did go back for our complimentary breakfast and had great service. So, it must have been a bad night for the dinner crew.

All in all, I will be back to this B&B.The lady at the front desk (young inspiring graduate student) had stellar customer service. This is the service I will return for.

I would have given the Excelsior a perfect rating as the food, atmosphere, staff and European style rooms were truly excellent. Unfortunately, our sleep was disrupted by a loud group of people (students?) partying in the parking lot from midnight to about 2 am and then a garbage truck back up beeping alarm about 6 am. As we only stayed one night, we don't know if these are common occurrences or not. We did tell the hotel morning manager but she just expressed mild surprise and then dismissed us.

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms with windows near the back of the hotel. It can be really noisy in the middle of the night even on a weekday.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review of the Excelsior. Guest feedback is very important to us, as we strive to give guests the best experience possible. Some things are out of our control, unfortunately, but we will do our best to make sure that our staff takes any guest comments seriously and reacts accordingly.

We like Excelsior's restaurant a lot. One part of this pleasure comes from restaurant staff who remember customers from before and make efforts to be welcoming. Another part comes from Italian cooking that consistently delivers high quality. They make their own pasta from imported flour. Many ingredients come from the chef-owner's farm. The wine list includes some excellent, although pricey, choices. The owner is often present and paying attention.

The Atmosphere and lay out -- Fabulous, Food -- Fantastic and beautifully presented. Everything was high quality -- Staff and Service Personnel did a really good job. As glasses and plates were emptied the staff "delicately" spirited them away and produced the next course as if by magic.

Room Tip: We were only dining room guests. However, parking could present a problem at times due to downtown location.
