There are lots of good restaurants in Eugene, (and Seattle), but Bruno's stands above them all when you take that first bite of your entree. My colorful scallops arrived with gorgeously shaved asparagus, barely cooked and bright green, set off with a perfect, small lavender pansy. The ripe strawberry, honeydew melon and bright red ribbon of...something...announced that it was time for a party! And my palate was the guest of honor. The generous portion of scallops were large and perfectly cooked, served on a bed of rice, with the most flavorful, but light cream sauce to accent the sweetness of the scallops and the asparagus. My mom's curried halibut was equally good, sweetened with plums that didn't overwhelm the delicate fish. The dining room is small, but charming with color to ward off the gray Eugene weather, and Bessie welcomes and pampers you during your visit. The spinach salad is always a treat, though too small to share. Prices are high, but spend your money on the entree and it's worth every penny. We look forward to our next visit.
