“Terrific Place to Stay”
Reviewed October 23, 2012

Very pleasant change of pace from chain motels. Beautiful street appeal with lush hanging basket flowers. Big clean rooms with retro, mid-century touches. Environmentally green features, too. Excellent value. Great downtown location walking distance to restaurants, cafes, bakeries, shops. Friendly staff. Will be our regular place to stay when in Eugene.

Room Tip: King bed room is big. Seniors, ask about senior special rates.

This place is alright with fairly large and modern rooms. It is right in the city centre with several restaurants and pubs within walking distance. Is also has free parking on the premises. And given the low price for a room the place cannot receive anything but a very high rating. When we stayed at the motel there was, however, a very warm day (35 degrees Celsius) and the air conditioning was a bit too noisy and hard to control for us to be fully satisfied.

Room Tip: Second floor is always nice.

This is our second stay at Timbers Motel and it was even more enjoyable than the first. This time we requested (and received) a second floor room on the back side of the motel. Hardwood floors, knotty pine paneling and ceiling and open beam rafters are charming and homey and the room was spacious and comfortable. This room had a large apartment refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and all the usual accoutrements (hair dryer, etc.). It was spotlessly clean and the bed comfortable. One nice thing about Timbers is the location ... right downtown in Eugene. We walked to a nearby Thai restaurant for dinner and had an outstanding meal at a reasonable price. For breakfast we walked up the street to Voodoo Doughnuts and bought a dozen to take to a reunion we were attending in Waldport later that day. I really like this motel. The hanging baskets of flowers that adorn the exterior are just the beginning of the charming old-timey experience. I stayed here several decades ago and its been nicely remodeled since then, preserving all of the original character and upgrading where necessary. The managerial staff is cordial and welcoming and eager to accommodate requests. I think that we will probably be staying at Timbers whenever we need to overnight in Eugene.

Room Tip: Have stayed in both a ground floor room on the south side and a second-story room on the west side...

The Timbers is a motor motel in the downtown area. The outside is clean and inviting, they have hanging flower baskets that brighten up the place. The room we stayed in was large, it had 2 queen beds, which were comfortable. The room was quaint as it had wooden walls and ceilings.
Came with a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. Management was courteous, price is reasonable as long as you don't stay when the Ducks play football in town.

We thought it was a little high (the rate for a roadside motel), but the rooms were nice and they even have smoking rooms. It is convenient for Grey Hound travelers because it is across the street. The ceilings are rough timbers, hence the name, and there are potted flowers here (maybe to look like a Swiss Chalet?). There aren't really any perks except free breakfast and no military discount, which is kind of why we moved to Campus Inn down the street. But, I would still rate it as a 4 circle.

Stayed for one night in a small queen room - which really, for two people, was completely roomy.

Standard motor inn/motel that nonetheless had lots of care/attention.

Bed, shower pressure, air conditioning all totally fine. Not much else to say really!

Staff: Quick check in/check out. No complaints.

What a pleasant surprise! The room, a small queen and the least expensive, was spotless. The decor was modern, and the shower was fabulous--a very large walk in tiled shower, and I mean VERY large--with easy to regulate water temperature and a gentle but efficent spray. The temperature was 90 degrees the day I was in Eugene, so the shower and the air conditioning were both important items. The air conditioning cooled the room down quickly and was easy to turn on and control.
Because I travel with a laptop and assorted accessories, electric outlets are important and the room had a desk and lamp with built in outlet which was perfect for the computer or for recharging whatever needed to be recharged. I had an end unit so cannot really speak to possible noise, but I heard nothing from the occupied next door unit and about two squeaks from someone upstairs and that was all. The traffic noise, if any, did not reach my room which was at the rear of the building.
The University was closed for holiday but the motel was full, perhaps a tribute to its many conveniences. The standard microwave, refrigerator, and a large flat screen tv were furnished, as well as an ironing board. A fine assortment of restaurants were within two blocks, with the closest being the Thai restaurant, Sweet Basil.
The lobby clerks were helpful and courteous.
This would have been a five star review were it not for the lack of a pool (which doesnt bother me, but some people demand them). I would happily stay at the Timbers Motel any time!

Room Tip: Ask for what you want if you reserve personally. I asked for a ground floor room because of age and...
