Description: Marche, located in Eugene, Oregon, opened in August 1998. The restaurant, which seats 80 guests, has an exhibition kitchen featuring a beautiful wood-fired oven. There is also a stylish bar and a large outdoor dining area, covered with awnings and umbrellas and surrounded by a garden of herbs and edible flowers. Marche takes its name from the French word for market – a word that describes our location in the bustling 5th street Market and more importantly, our philosophy of cooking. The menu is based on the foods one would find at a farmer’s market: fresh, seasonal, and regional. Marche is committed to using only those ingredients that are at their best, so our menu evolves as we move through the seasons of the year. Marche also believes in using the highest quality and most healthful ingredients available and to that end use organic, free range, and chemical free products. The culinary technique is French-based: intensely flavored and simply but beautifully presented.

Several small rooms make us this casual yet elegant restaurant. Food is always excellent from Oregon mussels, to crispy pizza from the open-fire oven to braised local pork. Very good selection of wine and beer. Service efficient and friendly.

Went to Marche for an anniversary dinner. The ambiance is very nice and we were seated right away (we had a reservation). Service was excellent and prompt throughout the night. The food was great flavor wise, though my fiancee's pork chop was a little dry (I blame this on people's tendency to over cook pork.
Two things that bothered me about Marche is, the menu is the same as the last time we came, and the alcohol servings seemed rather small. The wine glasses are small, yet the the charge for a glass of wine is the same as a restaurant with larger glasses. While the cognac was served in a nice size glass, it seems the bartender went out of his way to skimp (approx 1/2 finger).
Overall, good restaurant that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend for the food, just know they will skimp on the alcohol servings.

I travel yearly to Eugene and this is the best food in town. It is served like a fine restaurant in a larger city. It is hard to find. It is in the 5th Street Market down by the railroad station.

I love the regional special dinner nights. I always watch for them and try to attend. Marche grows the herbs right there in plain view and cooks up the meals in an open grill so you can see how fresh and colorful it all is. This is a great place for an anniversary date.
