My husband and I took a friend of mine to Koho for dinner. Fist time since the new owner took over. Over the years and different ownerships the place has seen more down than ups, but the new chef appeared to have made a name for himself around town with a couple of awards (Oregon Iron Chef). I should mention that our guest was a cordon bleu trained chef and teacher in Italy...but no pressure.
We were all very satisfied with dinner. The food was great. The side vegetables, fantastic.
The desserts, amazing. If you are a foodie and you can't make your tastebuds happy around Eugene, you have to try Koho!

We wanted to treat some friends to a birthday dinner, and chose Koho Bistro. What a fabulous meal we had!

Don't be put off by the strip mall location -- the decor and ambiance inside is really nice and soothing. The restaurant was bustling, but it wasn't noisy and we were able to enjoy a great conversation in a corner booth. Zachary was our waiter -- he's very funny and attentive. Three of us had the wilted spinach salad with pancetta, golden raisins and chopped egg -- the dressing was a bit too tart for my taste and the salad was a little overdressed. We also had pomme frites -- the fancy word for french fries. The description sounded better than they were -- they were pretty ordinary fries with a little bit of spice in the ketchup. But the kitchen made up for the lackluster starters with fantastic entrees. The two guys in our party ordered one of the day's special entrees -- very thick boneless pork chops with smashed new potatoes with pancetta. The two women had the salmon entree -- salmon encrusted with cumin and curry, served over honey mustard risotto with carrots, leeks, fontina cheese and grilled peaches. All four of us were crazy about our entrees! Not a single bit was left on any of our plates. Totally yummy, with hearty portions and great flavors. Just one small criticism: the menu doesn't say if the salmon is wild. If it's not, it should be, and the menu should specify that. And with the emphasis these days on seasonal food, why is the risotto topped with grilled peaches in November?

Zachary then described the desserts to us, and they all sounded luscious and creative. However, we had plans to go home for birthday cake. But we look forward to trying the desserts on our next (of many) return visits!

Zachary also explained the history of the restaurant and its owner/chef, Jeff Strom, who's won many prestigious awards in Oregon.

It was a lovely meal and memorable meal in a warm and inviting setting. We'll definitely be back!

Koho Bistro has come into our circle of favorite restaurants again, here in Eugene. We went there last night and all aspects of the evening were superior. Appetizers were tasty, the drinks refreshing, the wine list varied and not overly complex, and the entrees were great. AND, our waiter Jesse was my ideal of friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and there at exactly the right time - and no more. What a treat that was! The bartender also came to the table for a brief greeting and assurance that the drinks were OK.

All of the food, Ravioli, Salmon, Hangar Steak, and Duck, were excellent and the "Sweet Plates" which we shared, the Panna Cota and the Brownie a La Mode were fabulous. I am one who likes modest and reasonable sized portions and the Koho Bistro "nailed it".

Lastly, it wasn't as noisy as so many of the newly opened restaurants seem to be. We had a lovely conversation along with fine wine, exceptional food, and a welcoming atmosphere. We'll be back, for sure. Bravo Koho Bistro!

We took our friends out to dinner for their anniversary. We did not have reservations, but we were seated in a booth. It was quiet and intimate and great for conversation. We started with some appetizers, the pate from their happy hour menu and the corn flan - both absolutely amazing. We had four different things for dinner; the ravioli, the steak, the salmon and the duck confit. All four of us raved about our dinners. We also shared two desserts between the four of us, the brownie and the chocolate mousse-like dish. Once again, we all oohed and ached over the flavors and the presentations. Our waiter, Jese, was excellent. He explained the menu to us and was there when we needed him and not there when we wanted our own space. it was a wonderful meal and a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for something a little bit different and something completely delicious. The prices are reasonable and the serving sizes are not large but they satisfied all of us. Great place to eat!!

Heard about this place from some friends, and have been waiting to be in Eugene to try it out. It was worth the wait! I was running errands with my wife, so we didn't get to spend as much time there as I would like to, or get to sample their nice selection of beers. The wait staff was prompt and courteous, and the food was excellent. The make their own ketchup--it was interesting ( and good)--but I would have preferred a more traditional type. Overall, a gem--and one I will be going back to, with more time available next time!
