“unique food, funky (meant in a positive way) atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 23, 2014

we have been there for both lunch and dinner. the food offering is unusual for the area...duck...rabbit. everything is well presented. the food is delicious. we do not go out a lot in Eugene because we live here and usually prefer our own cooking. this restaurant makes it fun to go out and know we will enjoy the experience. the atmosphere is woodsy and comfortable.

“Without a doubt, best restaurant in Eugene.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2014

This is hands down the best dining experience you can get in Eugene, and while its not cheap, for the amazing food and drink you get its the type of meal you don't mind paying for. Every phase of a meal is perfect, from appetizers to the main to the extremely well thought out deserts. In addition to the amazing food, they also have the best bar in Eugene. The bartenders really know what makes a great drink a great drink, from any time period, whether its a perfect old fashioned or an equally perfect long island ice tea. And to top it all off, the staff is amazing, and they do a good lunch as well.

“Fine food, flawed service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2014

I ate at Rye on New Year's Eve, and have since told my friends it was the best meal I have ever had in a Eugene restaurant. It was beautifully prepared from the first sip of my martini, through the perfect coq au vin to the tang of the after-dinner chocolate.

However, the server's refusal to split our check put a sour spin on our experience. It seems a monor inconvenience in light of the customer satisfaction points Rye could accrue from this small service.

I will definitely be back to savor Rye's exceptional cuisine, but I do hope their management will reconsider the policy of not splitting checks. Management also needs to train their staff to be a little more cheerful and accommodating.

“Excellent seafood”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2013

Four of us went to dinner at Rye in Eugene. It was recommended by a family member, but none of us had ever been there before. Two of us tried the coho salmon, which was wild salmon from Alaska (excellent); one had the seafood stew, which came with a lot of seafood and was also excellent; the fourth person tried the ravioli, which they also liked very much. The meals came with a nice portion of fresh vegetables including some wonderful squash. The risotto with the salmon was very good. The seafood was not overcooked, as so often happens. They also had a good selection of wines at not outrageous prices. Services was very good. Our waiter was friendly and efficient and kept our water glasses full. That was a challenge because we went through a lot of water. So, definitely try out Rye if you haven't already. I would readily go back again.

“Lackadaisical Service, Average Food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013

I wanted to like this place. It may try a bit too hard to be stylish, but it is still pleasant. The service, on the other hand, was totally indifferent. Empty glasses of water (and wine) - sporadic delivery of food, and that "another pesky customer" attitude. This would have been annoying if the place was full - but fewer than half the tables were occupied.

The food struck me as average. I ordered salmon - it was obviously fresh, and a nice piece of fish, but it was undercooked and served at room temperature.

I'd like to like this place - but I'm afraid it will be a good while before I give them another opportunity.
