This place is fun for the whole family. Even though the center is kind of small in size, there are events to add to the fun. We had attended two of the laser light shows some time ago, and wish they would do it again, they were so much fun.

Never overly crowded, the Science Factory is small but the hands-on activities will keep kids busy for an hour or two. It is small enough that kids can roam freely and parents can keep an eye on them from a central spot. We always buy our yearly membership as part of the Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) membership program - A fantastic deal! They have pretty good planetarium presentations as well. Don't go during any UofO Football events as the museum is located right behind Autzen Stadium.

The day we were there just happened to be "Tot Day" so there was an extra charge to participate in those activities. We were told by the front desk that the "Tot Day" activities were for ages 2 and under, so we paid the extra fee, but they seemed more appropriate for five and under. The museum had two main areas, a small area for toddlers with a ball area, a construction "digger" and small boat. and such. and an area for slightly older children which included some hands-on activities on weight/motion, shadows and optic overload, a variation on the game of "Twister," a video-wtching area, toy trains. and my son's favorite An Archimeded Screw that was used to move water uphill (or in this case, plastic balls).
Not very big, but good for about an hour or two.

As my son grew, he lost interest in the Science Factory. It is a good place for little ones. Summer camps are good.

Similar to Ashland's Scienceworks and San Francisco's Exploratorium, Eugene's Science Factory caters to the younger set, with cool dinosaur, sea monster and astronomy exibits sure to please those 12 and under. It's always great when you're on holiday to have a place where the kids can burn off some energy and learn a few things at the same time. Also a great indoor activity when the weather outside is frightful and the rugrats have cabin fever.
