Cool in town theatre when you don't feel like driving out of town. Used to have a fat old cat that roamed around eating popcorn but he is long gone. RIP

The Bijou has come up a lot and has a new look and feel after some lobby remodeling and upgrade,
while still hanging onto the ambiance that makes it so special.

In the University area, somewhat, use your maps, it is an old funeral home turned into a couple of small theatres. They show all the art films there, and the political films and stuff that the mainstream theatres won't shop. Eugene is a funky place, lots of former hippies and liberal students and this place fits PERFECTLY with that group and those who still have independence and don't tow the disney line when it comes to movies and documentaries. FUN experience, and VERY reasonable prices. SMALL parking lot on the side, so if it is a popular film, get there early. Teensy lobby too, not much of a snack bar, but an experience, and they do late night sometimes too.

The place is a little down-at-the-heels and the seats kind of vary in how comfortable and / or creaky they are, but as an art house they show films you can't see elsewhere in town, and it's always a more intimate movie experience.

This place has lots of charm and shows great movies. The popcorn is reasonably priced and very good.
