The menu is not large, but the selection is good, and the service is very attentive. A basket of a variety of breads is always brought to the table first, followed by well prepared salads and main courses. I like the curried dishes they serve, and vegetarians have a nice choice of food to order here.

Cafe Zenon was either having a bad day, or the service is always this bad and everyone keeps coming back for the food. We'll opt for a bad day. First, the host sat us at an outside table around 1 p.m. on a Saturday. He had started to seat us inside with menus, but saw an opening outside, so he took us out there. He walked away without giving us menus. About 15 minutes later he walked past us, and I asked for menus, and 5 minutes later he brought menus. Everything looks tempting with interesting preparations of fresh food. Unfortunately, our server was waiting tables both inside and out, and just as we were getting up to leave 30 minutes into waiting to place an order, the waiter came over to take our order. He was very pleasant and we noticed he was friendly and helpful to everyone he served. When 20 minutes passed without food, our server apologized for the wait. We're not sure why there was such a wait as almost all of the tables inside were empty and new people sat around us who were also waiting to order. An hour into our stay, our food arrived, and I have to say it was excellent. The potatoes served with the salmon hash were outstanding! (So was the hash.) I would have eaten just the potatoes. My husband's quiche was creamy and flavorful. We were glad we stayed and waited it out. When we travel through Eugene again we will try Cafe Zenon again and hope that the staff is having a better day, because the food is like a spiritual experience for the tongue.

We've been coming to Zenon for years, and even tho it changed hands a few years ago, it really hasn't changed much at all - whenever we come into town and think about where we'd like to eat, this place always pops into our brains.

We recently were in town for the OBF, and had to get from Hult to Beall on campus in a little over an hour - our walk took us right by Zenon, and we decided to try to squeeze in some wine and munchies if we could - our server was more than helpful in assisting us to meet our deadlines, during which we finished off a nice bottle of NZ Sauvignon Blanc (half price on Tuesdays) and several small plates ($2 off each as well).

We sat outside on the sidewalk, which allowed for some interesting people watching - Fun! And we were reminded just how enjoyable this place continues to be.

It's slim pickings in Eugene for a good brunch, but this place had everything we needed for a special occasion. The mimosa was made with fresh squeezed OJ and the lemonade was a special recipe with fresh lemons that I haven't been able to copy. The wheat bread was fresh baked and very good - not dry and tasteless like most. The portion of bacon was huge with my breakfast. Great environment and the wait staff is very responsive and helpful.

This was our second time to dine at Cafe Zenon (we live 2 1/2 hours away). After our first experience there, we knew we HAD to meet our friends there for dinner this trip. The waiter was great - we were seated promptly and the service was unobtrusively responsive and anticipatory. The food -- AMAZING! All five of us were oooing and ahhing over each bite (a bit like the scene from 'When Harry met Sally') - and we all had to take tastes from each other's plates. The fish was prepared perfectly. The reduction sauce on the green peppercorn steak was rich and flavorful (so much so that our 15 yr old daughter did not waste a single drop, she soaked it up with a piece of bread). And the desserts were also quite fabulous. A perfect evening - great food shared with great friends.
