Owner description: A six-mile bike trail along the Willamette River.

Pretty good shape of bike path. Good for bike, run or walk. People also commute on this path. Birds and mushrooms around. You can connect from paths to several neighborhoods.

The Willamette River bike trail isn't just for bicyclists, walkers, seniors to babies in strollers, and folks in wheelchairs use this paved trail. The trail provides many access points and has mileage posts ever quarter mile and winds through lovely scenery regardless where you start and end. If you prefer more managed parks, stick to the stretches between downtown and Valley River Center. If you prefer more natural scenery, start at or near one end of the trail and head to the center. There are trails on both sides of the river with several bridges that allow you to cross over and make a round trip that covers different scenery although simply turning around and seeing what you just walked past from a different perspective is equally charming and provides a chance to see what you missed.

Never biked it but the walk is wonderful. LOTS of birds of every feather with a few turtles thrown in. One can walk a short distance or really get a workout by doing the loop (walking each side of the river.

I ride the ten mile loop around the Willamette River often. It's beautiful. You can go a little farther but the ten miles is perfect. Lots of wild life every day and Wild Life on game day. No hills, just thrills.

If you like riding or walking near a beautiful river, looking at wildlife, etc., but don't want to drive far to do it, this path can't be beat. It's right in town, yet has spectacular scenery of the river, wildlife ponds, parks, rose garden, etc.
