“A Great Trail to Walk, Run and Ride”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

What ever your form of outdoor exercise may be, waking, running or biking, you will have to go far to find a more pleasant place to enjoy these activities. I have been a resident of Eugene for over 38 years and have used this trail for all three activities. The trial runs along both banks of the Willamette River through almost its entire route through Eugene. It is accessible from many city streets and parking areas, so you don't have to do any more distance than is comfortable for your level of fitness. For bikers, the trail is paved the entire distance. For runners and walkers, it is wide enough to accommodate you and the bikers on the trail. Just remember to keep to the right and be alert to bikers approaching from the rear. They will usually warn you by calling out "on your left" as they approach. For runners, this is a fantastic route for flat distance training. I have personally used it extensively to train for several marathons. Parts of the trail are also included in the routes of several running road races. Not only that, but "Pre's Trail," a bark running trail, is directly accessible from the River Trail at Alton Baker Park. For leisurely walks to intense running or cycling training, it's very hard to beat this excellent feature of Eugene, OR.

“Bring you Bike to Eugene”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 25, 2013

The Willamette River bike trail in Eugene is a beautiful paved trail along the Willamette River. There are many ways to enter and exit the trail and there are many parks along the way. You can leave the trail and be right in downtown and then get back on and be in a natural setting along a beautiful river. I would rank this trail as better than the American River bike trail in Sacramento and a more natural setting than the bike trail through Bidwell Park in Chico.

The trail is beautiful and allowed for quiet reflection, appreciation for nature and amazing views. The trail was well kept and the path afforded us wonderful, in-touch views of nature.

“Willamette River Trails - Great Place to Walk, Run or Bike”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2013

One of Eugene's most interesting attractions isn't an attraction at all - it's the parkland and paved trails lining both sides of the Willamette River. A great way to stay in shape during your visit and it's free with lots of interesting things to stop and see along the way.

“Beautiful!”

A fantastically maintained bike path/running trail on the outskirts of Eugene. I'm a runner and this is Tracktown USA, the home of Steve Prefontaine. I was in Eugene for a project at the U of O Knight Library, but I didn't stay downtown- I was at the Valley River Inn. This gave me the perfect opportunity to walk or run to town for my appointments. Eugene is definitely bigger than I gave it credit for, so my loops were in the 5-6 miles at a minimum. Not a problem except for the evening I was dressed for a fancy dinner- oops! I was there Sept 10-12 and the weather was beyond spectacular. There seemed to be pockets of camping homeless people here and there which startled me at first, but I was never approached or bothered or harassed in any way. Run, bike, roller blade or simply mosey along, but get out and enjoy this trail!
