I can't understand why this restaurant isn't rated higher. We've been here 3 times and all very very nice. The outdoor patio with twinkle lights is so pleasant, and the inside is light and airy. The food is excellent and unusual enough to be interesting, and the portions are NOT small! This time I had the braised boar on polenta--came on a wooden trough, the seasonings were amazing, sort of Middle Eastern; husband had the pasta special with shrimp and salmon; son had the filet, good size with tons of mushrooms. The gorgonzola-roasted-garlic bread app is huge and so good. Both hubby and I took half of our entrees home. Of course we still had to get dessert to go--they have the most amazing cakes. Excelsior is our place for a special treat every time we visit Eugene.
