This is no dinky grandma B&B..beautiful property, exceptionally clean and inviting and absolutely gracious hosts. Karen is a gold mine of info in addition to being an amazing chef. Decor wise it's like staying in a Restoration Hardware catalog, which is just fine by me. The breakfasts are fantastic, like something out of Food and Wine magazine. You couldn't go wrong by staying here.

This magical villa is the perfect location for touring the Willamette valley wine country or just for a quiet and romantic getaway. The Inn is recently built, so everything is exquisitely clean, with spacious rooms and baths and beautifully decorated public and private areas. the breakfasts are wonderful and the owner, Karen, is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. She wrote out driving directions for us, handled dinner reservations and moved us to a more comfortable room for my husband, who is in a wheelchair. But above all, there is the view---a breathtaking panorama of the entire valley. It is beautiful at any time, but when there is fog on the floor of the valley beneath you, it is otherworldly. I am anxious to return to this gem.

I could wax poetic about the Black Walnutt Inn for hours. We stayed in the Vista suite which I am told has neverending views of Mt. Hood and the Valley. Mt Hood was obscured by clouds our entire stay but the valley below and the surrounding vineyards and orchards were breathtaking. What is even better than the location (if that is possible) was the service. We felt right at home and loved every moment. Karen made appointments for us at private wineries that were amazing. We even were drinking wine in one vineyard owner's personal kitchen...how is that for initimate? Some of the other winemaker's we met with we later found out were quickly becoming known as "superstars" in the industry. Dinner reservations were made for us as well. We literally had to just show up and an impeccable wine and food experience was laid out before us. We were here in the low season, which meant we had to brave the rain, but we also had the entire inn to ourselves 2 out of 3 nights. It felt like we were renting the entire inn. Breakfast was great with local ingredients and the afternoon snack was perfect for post winetasting nosh. This was the perfect getaway!

The Inn was our base for five days of wine touring with another couple. Styled as a Tuscan villa atop a hill with a view forever, including Mt. Hood in the distance, vineyards just below complete the happy illusion of being in Tuscany. Our room was attractive, inviting and comfortable, with a small deck adjoining.

Owners Karen and Neal Utz are the consummate innkeepers, exceptionally welcoming, friendly and helpful. Recommendations, reservations and informed opinions were readily offered, with restaurant reservations confirmed in writing on pre-printed forms for each place and a note of who took the reservation.

Breakfast involves a menu of four or five hearty choices, but also fruit and yoghurt for those still recovering from a memorable dinner at one of the several good restaurants nearby. The breakfast room is bright and sunny, while the large living room looking out over the vineyards is equally inviting as a place to gather, read or just enjoy the wine you may have bought that day. Having dined well for number of evenings, we whimsically had a pizza and salad delivered one evening and had a delightful alfresco meal as dusk turned to dark over the view below.

This place is much nicer than it looks from the website--on it you don't really see the commanding view of the Willamette Valley, the spacious rooms with tall ceilings and wonderful vistas through the windows, the great drive up into the Tuscan style courtyard. We found this through the Touring and Tasting magazine while making a wine tasting tour around Oregon and just wished we had more time in the area. This was a plush place to stay while sampling the great Pinot Noir and restaurants. Everything sparkling clean, luxurious. The bed was really comfortable, nice towels, liked the self-serve tea and cookies!

The owners have poured love, as well as money, into this amazing Italianate chateau in the Dundee hills. We stayed in the Master - a large corner suite with breath-taking views of the surrounding area including Mount Hood in the distance. The opportunity to sit on the patio, with a bottle of wine and a few snacks, watching the sun go down was a lifelong memory.
The sumptuous breakfasts, prepared by the owner or a local restaurant chef, were interesting, if large on portions for us Brits. Sunday brunch is the best option where you can control your own portions in a self service arrangement. The breakfast 'amuse bouche' of a red berry crumble and cream one day was delicious in its own right but more suited to a dessert than the fore runner of a savoury omelette.
The owners try incredibly hard to help with ideas of where to go and what to see, organising private vineyard viewings if asked; they deserve every success.

You won't find an Inn in all of Oregon with a better setting than this place. It's a little difficult to get to but very rewarding once here. A walk around the vineyard in the morning was a great way to start a day of wine tasting which is widely available in the area. Be ready for breakfast early though. It's ready between 8 and 8:30. Wish the breakfast window was a little later and wider.
