We love coming to the Surfrider. We love the views, the rooms are clean, the food is good, the pool is bright and clean.
We saw whale spouts from our room this visit and later as we hiked by Boiler Bay, we witnessed two juvenile bald eagles squabble over a squirrel, which one had clutched in it's talons. Such a display of aerobatics!
We will continue to come back.

Great Stay!!! Great Hotel for only 100 dollars a night we got a Whirlpool King Room with Kitchen. We had a great time even though it rained the whole weekend! Gas Fireplace was nice. The maids were awesome and the rooms were very clean.

Can't say how many times we've stayed at Surfrider - our favorite on the north/central coast of Oregon. Staff is the best - rooms are the cleanest and well appointed - restaurant has BEST breakfast and fine other meals - close to both Lincoln City and Newport - and many galaries, etc. Lots to do and see - plus the eagles that traditionally nest in the trees to the south of the restaurant.

This is a great hotel. Comfortable rooms with Jaccuzi tubs and fireplaces. Super ocean views with seals on the rocks below. Super restaurant. Almost hate to reccommend this place because there might not be a vacancy for me next time I want to go back. Staff was super also.

As we were checking in we could see 2 whales right off shore and could watch them from our balcony as well! Room was nice, had a "queen suite" though the bed was not very comfortable. Quiet, clean, nice desk staff and had a great dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Would recommend!

Depoe Bay and the Surfrider are good bet when traveling this section of the Oregon coast. Between Newport and Lincoln City it doesn't suffer from traffic or commercialism. The hotel/motel is located on a bluff overlloking a beautiful bay. The grounds and suite were very clean and well maintained. Our suite with a Queen bedroom and pullout sofa in the living area was a bit cramped. The WiFi worked but the signal was very weak. Our biggest complaint was the fact that being on the bottom floor we could hear every single step of the family above us. The construction of the building was obviously very poor. We asked to change to an upper floor but management told us we could not be accommodated. All in all not a bad choice, just make sure you reserve an upper floor.

We stayed at the Surfrider for two nights as we worked our way up the Oregon Coast. Our first impression was first rate. The staff at the reception desk was friendly and chatty. We got in before our 4:00 check in thinking we would have to wait for our room but they got us hooked right up. The first room we went to was nice but the deck overlooking the water was only accessible by going into a common alcove shared with the room next to us. We asked to try a different room where the sliding glass door went directly from our living area to the outside. They were more than happy to let us move, even at the same rate. The rooms were very clean but had a distinct lack of shelf and countertop space. So we (wife, 14 year old son and I) felt a bit cramped. I got the impression that this was at one time little more that a roadside motel with a great view. They have cleaned it up nicely but it still feels like it used to be an old motel. The pool was very nice. It is indoors but enclosed in glass so you get the light as if you are outside. The beach is not your typical coast beach. It’s like a large cove with very coarse-grained sand. Not good for building a sand castle. But it is quite beautiful. We even saw a whale spouting right out in front. Overall, it seemed that for the money ($149) you are paying for the spectacular view, great staff and clean grounds but certainly not for a fancy room.
