My bride and I spent our wedding night at the Channel House several years ago, and we try to get back to it every summer. There is nothing as wonderful as sipping wine while we sit in a private hot tub and watch whales play not far out from the shore. Love watching boats negotiate the small channel, and love dinner at Tidal Raves nearby. I read a long time ago that the Channel House was voted one of the best places to kiss in the Pacific Northwest. Our vote would have it at the top of the list!

I really miss my daily morning soak in the deck tub while watching whales and birds. This place is top notch, and although pricey, will be something you remember forever. We ate at Tidal Raves restaurant in Depoe, which was absolutely delicious and much more reasonably priced than Restaurant Beck. The fireplace which is controlled digitally by a t-stat was awesome, my wife loved being able to sit on the deck with the door open and fireplace blasting and stay toasty while I was in the tub. They have an extensive rental movie selection as well, which was perfect the second night that we were there--pouring all night. Great hotel, book with confidence.

Room Tip: We stayed in #3 Whale Watcher. It was amazing with private jacuzzi on the deck, full views of the o...

We went down for our friends 60th birthday. They had suite 11 with an amazing view of the channel, we had suite 7. Our room was wonderful, however it was really warm even with the windows open and the fan running. Breakfast was great. Your staff is fantastic!! You have an amazing Manager/guest services in Sara. She went above and beyond for us. She showed us all of your suites as well as your additional properties. We are planning on coming back for our wedding anniversary in March.

Thank you again

Dan and Lauren

The room (#1 Admiral) was perfect. We had a lovely view of the ocean and saw a number of whales from our bedroom and the balcony. The room had a lovely fire place and a great jacuzzi that was outside overlooking the ocean, bay, and town, but still very private. We had fresh cookies and bedtime chocolate mints waiting on us. Our hostess, Sarah, was so welcoming and helpful (as long as you could listen quickly because she talked really fast - but in a fun way). She gave us great tips on dinner and what to see in the area. Great breakfast with fresh baked pastries. We'll definitely come back.

Room Tip: There seemed to be more privacy on the top floor, certainly we felt the Admiral room was very privat...

My wife and I stayed at the Channel house for a couple of nights in June. We'd been driving quite a bit to see as much of Washington and Oregon as we could before having to go back home. The stop was well worth it! The room was very nice and comfortable. We also really enjoyed the view of the ocean and channel entry from the back porch while enjoying the hot tub. The town was a nice place to visit and the surrounding area offered plenty of sights to see as well. We will certainly return if ever we find ourselves in Depoe Bay again.

We agonized over which hotel to choose for our ONE NIGHT visit to the Oregon Coast. When we arrived at the hotel prior to check-in time, the exterior door was locked. We called the phone number on our reservation, but there was no answer. An hour later, we came back and the door was still locked. Another guest then arrived with reservation in-hand and said she had been trying to check in, as well, for more than an hour. Luckily, a guest from inside the hotel came out the door, and when he did, we went in. Our keys were taped to an INTERIOR door. Short story - had another guest not come out of the hotel, we could not have gotten our keys; no air conditioning in the room; no internet; no hotel staff. I understand A/C is not always necessary on the coast, but the windows in the only air circulation you can get in the Whale Watch Room comes from two sliding glass doors, one of which is at the foot of the bed (eliminates your privacy if you have the window open; drapes are too heavy to let in air) and the other door is in the living room (eliminating living room privacy). For the first time in our lives, we left the hotel without spending the night. Drove back to Redmond and had to totally scrap our vacation time at the coast. We will not return to this hotel, and are sorry we paid in advance. I understand the hotel staff had an emergency, but it was only by pure luck that we were able to get our keys at all. Zero privacy, so if romance is your goal, re-think it. Room was hot. No internet access at all - we suspect based on signs in the lobby that it only works if you are inside the hotel's office, but office is only open during the daytime. We were very disappointed. Traveled 3,000 miles to see the coast, and this is what happened. The hot tub on the deck is not a hot tub. It is a corner tub with jets - like you would have inside in your bathroom.

This was a return visit. Had stayed here 20 years ago and vividly recall watching boats come out of the harbor between the swells gunning their engines as they surfed those swells into the ocean. Exciting! Stayed in the Admiral's suite on the top floor. Unfortunately, a hot tub now sits in the corner blocking most of that channel view! Standing in the empty hot tub for the best view was uncomfortable. Next time will try Whale House.
